That’s no bueno, how much are they trying to gouge?

 

If it meant losing the car and I wanted it bad enough, I might would pay it.

(Wouldn’t be the first time I’ve been screwed in business).

It’s one thing to get screwed against your will. Quite another to volunteer for it.

 

Given that spec, it is surprising to me that they would play games with you on it. Both from an ethical standpoint and in thinking they are going to find another buyer for that spec who is going to pay more than you will!

If you pass, you should name the dealer so the rest of us know who NOT to do business with.

 

I had the same thing happen on a new Range Rover
I told them to shove it and I would never buy a car from them or their sister company again

Ended up at retail

I absolutely hate this crap. They’re making plenty of money

Sometimes being willing to walk is the best bargaining chip.

Hopefully the dealership GM comes around. Porsche sends me feedback surveys every time I bring my car in for anything bigger than a lug nut, so you may have an opportunity to rate your experience…

That’s ridiculous. I know how much it sucks to really want something but be dealing with someone attempting extortion. Kudos for not giving in, I wouldn’t.

I assume a price was named upon ordering and now there’s some excuse as to why it has to cost $15k more? Sounds like a classic $&@hat thus far.

 

BTW - I’ve never been a fan of the old targa style, but I like the 993-997 targa concept. When the 991 targa came out blending the old and new elements, well…I fell in love! I’d love a carmine red GTS manual.

 

unique spec. offer them $15k under your agreed upon price(msrp?). tell them you are having 2nd thoughts and you found a color combo you like more at another porsche dealership.

 

These guys know exactly what that spec will bring and they also know exactly how long they’ll have to keep it at any given price.

(That’s one of the reasons they went up).

 

Without knowing the dealer, I think you might be giving them too much credit. Unless someone saw it and offered to pay a $10k ADM to have it right now or something, yes. But I've seen dealers do stupid stuff because they think the customer won't walk... and then they end up sitting on the car for a long time.

The market is not what it was-- many dealers now have an oddball 911 or two in inventory that they are asking unrealistic prices for.

It crossed my mind that they may already have it sold to someone else.

But maybe not.

 

how can it be sold to someone else as this is a paint to sample contract?

 

I’ve not researched the 2023 Target market. My sense of things would be they’re not falling off trees.

I personally plead ignorance. (I’ve never bought a car that’s yet to be built yet so I can’t comment the specifics of how it’s done).

The only thing I do know is, I’d never order any car for any customer if I weren’t pretty darn certain of profit on that car.

MB dealer did the same to me. After waiting 2 years for a G63, dealer informed me they are now selling them for $50k over but because I have waited so long and have been their customer for many years. They would be willing to lower the premium to $27k over. I started looking for another one and found one with higher MSRP and a decent color combo for $17k over. I offered the dealer $5k over only because my kids really wanted the car and we settled for $9k over. If my kids were not in love with the car, i would have definitely walked away but in the end you cannot let your emotions to take over.
