This could be a test mute for the 296Vs or a V6 Replacement for the 488/F8 (non hybrid) It does appear to be the latter that's why I have created a new thread for it. The Photo and link are thanks to Derek and are from his instagram. Derek has referred to it as the 488 Mulotipo (f163vs project) link to video below https://www.instagram.com/p/Cr9HIJGKZRC/ Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The indirect replacement of the F8 is the 296 proper. A V6 without hybrid assistance would be an entry level model; a Maserati MC20 rival, if you will. I really don't see the point of such a car within Ferrari's current range.
In fact, the opposite. It will be another model in the range, more extreme, positioned above the 296 VS.
Sorry, I forgot to use the expression "as far as I know" that I used today in the 296 VS thread, in the post I wrote about this non-hybrid V6 model.
The 296 is the « entry level » sportscar. This new car is rumored to be based on Ferrari GT3 experience. So much more track focused than 296 VS or SF90 VS however even if it will be ligther than the SF90 VS it won’t be faster in my opinion due to the power gap.
It will be hard for another car to be more track focused than the SF90 VS, given the firm's established hierarchy. The 296 GT3, for example, has an extended wheelbase compared to the road car. The SF90 already has such a larger wheelbase, conducive to track work.
bigger not better. sf90 heavy pig. VS slightly less heavy pig. a true track spec would be the 296's size and 3000 lbs or less with 800 hp.
around 3000lbs is possible without the use of hybrid, but getting that much power out of the v6 seems impossible. It’s such a damn shame we didn’t get an F8 VS. I know the Pista was basically it but in reverse, but I’m sure Ferrari could have done something (a la McLaren 750) and it would have had the nice F8 interior still. The 296 UI is atrocious imo. I can’t stand the lack of physical buttons on the wheel, nor the fact that Apple CarPlay removes the tach. It seems we move sideways, at best, instead of forward.
And it still breaks track records... BTW, dedicated race cars are quite large. The even made the 296 GT3 larger than the road car!
It could be. But you can hide a V6 in any of there on road models and the only thing you would notice is the sound. and if you put it into a 296 body 99% would have no idea as even the sound would be similar. Seems like alot of work and attention for sometime that could be totally hidden much easier
A new TTV6 model with no hybrid, ultra light and keeps the eco freaks happy win win. If I was told correctly the current V6 still has lots more power to give too. It could in fact use a watered down version of the Halo models TTV6 without the electrification
IF this is true, then I would say there looking at Porsche and their GT cars and saying why don't we do this. It's makes so much sense, I have actually been waiting for Ferrari to do this exact thing!
That would be so awesome to be honest. A true, off the shelf Ferrari for the track that is sub 300k (I may be getting carried away with the price, lol).
500k base for a TTV6 track car is a little absurd. I know its a Ferrari, but if its main goal is to compete as a road car that you can track, a la GT3RS, how exactly does 500k before options put it in the same category? I know we are simply speculating here, so we could all be off base, but I think that's a little outrageous. I also understand that its a Ferrari and not a Porsche, but that price, it will end up staying in garages as opposed to being on the track.
It is also important to mention the absence of yellow warning stickers on the mule, which indicates that the powertrain tested there is not electrified.
It will be rather in the 911 GT2 RS segment but without being limited. Don’t worry even if it s expensive there will be a long waiting list
I'm sure there will be a long waiting list. My point was, will it be sold out to sit in garages, or will it be sold out to be driven on tracks as its meant to be?
this car will be extreme and the fact that is not limited will convince people not to keep it in the garage imo. However there is also a possibility that they will try to speculate on it as often…
