Vigna said that there will be four new models this year. So for this year we have Roma spider, SF90 VS coupe, SF90 VS spider and what is the last one?
this italian render is probably the closest so far it fits all the previous known facts about the car
no real inspiration from the 365 Daytona in there. Nor is there anything linked to the roof/rear that will be a massive talking point and has not been done for a long time. This render is really just a GT reimaging of the Purosangue
In fact, this render is a mere salad of elements from current Ferraris, inserted into a GT shape. Headlights and hood from SP3, front grille and side window from Roma, wheels and door design from Purosangue, and the vents behind the rear wheels from SF90, but positioned vertically.
I agree. Ferrari would never do anything this obvious ( and boring ). That’s always the problem with these speculative renderings…they’re always just bad Frankenstein mash-ups of cars that have come before and they show no imagination beyond that.
I always try to do something with new cars, but I assure you it’s really really hard try to do something brand new.. and this is the Centro Stile magic! Often new shapes come from brand new technic solutions… more and more often the Centro Stile works together with the aerodynamic department and the mission is to dress a new technic solution in the best way.. in this case we already know we will have a super clean and elegant front V12 with codatronca, with an important eye to the Daytona. But the way they solved the front and the tail is still a mystery. Headlights and taillights are became a key point to understand in which way they want to go. We have to understand how they have evolved the Purosangue and Roma nose and how they’ve mixed with the suggestions from the past. But this is the Flavio Manzoni’s game. And the best part is every time we find something new
I agree with everything you are saying here. Manzoni has one of the most challenging jobs on the planet … make every new Ferrari instantly recognizable as a Ferrari but it has to look brand new and different from the Ferraris that came before it and it also has to stand out as unique in an ever-proliferating product line-up. Let’s give the man his due. He does a 10 times better job at it than 90% of people give him credit for.
There is a lot to say about it, but it still hasn't solved some questions, and especially the main one: what should a Ferrari be ? And to hear the critics, there has been a complete change of direction from the Monza, then Roma, PS, and 167 which consists of moving towards more fluidity and simplicity, and ultimately timelessness.
Fuidity and timeliness are fine … if you combine these with too much simplicity however … and you don’t have enough complexity and dynamism of form … you can end up with a Ferrari that looks like an Aston Martin … or worse … a Jaguar ( I’m looking at you, Ferrari Roma ).
Ferrari Roma is underestimated in my opinion, and often because of the mismatched configurations with the car. A well-thought-out Roma is magnificent and timeless. A Ferrari is a subtle blend of class and aggressiveness. It is the right balance between the two. If there is too much aggressiveness, it becomes a design for teenagers... All Ferrari designs that have made history are the right balance between the two. A successful design is like good wine, the older it gets, the better it is. Except that today, cheap digital interiors are a brake on this !
Could we be looking at the new hypercar with a LMH-style shark fin? The “split” looks to be quite centered, so I’m not seeing a buttress, or buttresses. But who knows, with the 296 having a vertical rear window and moving away from having a smooth glass engine cover, the 812C with no rear glass and with what little glass there was behind the cockpit of SF90 looking to be a couple of cubby holes on VS, seems anything is possible with the use of rear facing cameras.
Daytona was a step change in the modernization of design at Pininfarina compared to previous designs. I’d love to see a re-imagining of the Daytona with its “fuselage” design and rear fender humps replaced by some serious fender flares. I imagine something like the Ford Shelby GR-1 from 2005: Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ironically, what the Purosangue has, and looks to be on the prototypes also—but not captured in the rendering—is a clamshell type hood/bonnet.
I beg to differ on this point. I do NOT think a Ferrari MUST have the simplicity of a 60’s GT or a Roma in order to be a great and timeless design. Good design is good design. Aggressive designs can be great and timeless designs as well. Even extremely aggressive designs. Not EVERY Ferrari needs to embody simple elegance to be successful Ferrari design. In fact, many Ferrari models SHOULD NOT BE MERELY SIMPLE AND ELEGANT. Sportier and racier models SHOULD be much more AGGRESSIVE and they can still be great and timeless Ferrari designs when executed in a thoughtful and skillful manner. The 812 Competizione is very aggressive and very cohesive great design. La Ferrari based FXXK is extremely aggressive and a masterpiece of design.
