Did Alexandre authorize you to sell the car but without the chassis number?

You want to post his name, address and phone number too? You must have his number, call him to check if I'm authorized or not since you assume that people you don't know are trolls!

Paul, nobody's defensive in the least about selling USA F40s, as usual your theories are a figment of your creative imagination and are way off base, step back from your keyboard, have a cup of tea, and think about this carefully: I am in the F40 business, so the allowed entry of Eu/ROW F40s into the USA only means way more F40s for me to sell in the USA, whereas years ago we only could sell USA F40s here, in recent times over the past 10 years we can now sell 5 times as many F40s into the USA, why on earth would I not be thrilled about selling Eu/ROW F40s? As far as I am concerned Eu/ROW F40s are the proverbial Manna from Heaven.

You have no facts about the F40 market, the subject of this thread, only your theories & opinions which you've attempted to supported by meaningless Forex charts, as you yourself say, your spin is just spin. This thread is a fact-based thread established to analyze the numbers that characterize the F40 market. Let's be both fair & factual, you are not a participant in any way shape or form in the F40 market, nor do you have have any working experience or involvement in F40 market, therefore you have no knowledge of the current demographic of owners and the ever-evolving ownership landscape and their changing tastes that is resulting in the numbers that define today's F40 market, you are not involved in any negotiations which result in the actual F40 sale or acquisition numbers achieved in today's F40 market, and you are not consulted on in a professional capacity as an authority or specialist by people from all corners of the globe to establish what is considered good value in today's F40 market. In short, despite the fact that this thread was created for the purpose of establishing factual F40 market numbers, your participation here is more about personal opinion, speculation and empty predictions all based on guesswork and theories, the latter seemingly often conspiracy-based, all of which add no real value to someone coming on here looking to analyze the F40 market.

Your input in this thread reminds me of the time years ago when my renowned book publisher said to me that there are two basic categories of information: fiction and non-fiction. You bring the former, this thread is about the latter, that's the content difference.

Mark. Let's be fair. You decided to use this F40 market analysis thread as the venue to try to sell your friend's F40, so the expectation of full disclosure of the car's identity and the price being sought is both fair and essential as this is a fact-based thread created for the purpose of establishing real market numbers. IMO you should have been transparent from your first post and then you would have avoided all this drama, which is the same thing I said to you privately. Requests were made for full disclosure but you ignored them. This F40 is a conveyance used on public roads (as you have posted) with a public license plate and it's VIN number is a matter of public record and posted on other public websites, so it makes no sense that the VIN should be deleted, sorry. But now that the cat is out of the proverbial bag, I think everybody should be happy, no?

PS - it looks like a nice F40 and I'd be happy to sell it, but the only way to assess it properly would be to subject it to a complete specialist inspection, let us know where that's possible.

Regardless of the thinly veiled sales pitch, I feel it's poor form to publicly disclose information that's shared via PM.

@joe sackey Indeed, this car is really beautiful with clear history and technically perfectly maintained. It was fully inspected by Ferrari Classiche for its certification in 2016. Do you think that this Ferrari department doesn't inspect cars properly and you don't trust the result of their work? Or is an independent specialist better qualified than Ferrari Classiche, which certifies dozens of cars a year, to say whether a car is ok or not? Of course, the car is not hidden, it is visible and it is of course possible to inspect it, but given the lack of confidentiality shown by some people, it will only be possible under certain conditions, you know better than me that this type of car arouses a lot of envy and attracts a lot of curious people, serious or not. When you have a serious buyer, tell me and I will arrange this to suit you. But first, let's patiently wait for the result of the auction of the former Alain Prost F40, it's coming soon. Depending on the result, European buyers may wake up and this F40 will never have the opportunity to ride in your beautiful country. I still have no estimate for this one here but no problem, the price is not negotiable anyway. Below, A.D. prefers to keep it :)

I already knew the chassis number before any discussion happened by PM.

Given that this F40's VIN has been previously disclosed on at least 3 different public websites along with images of the car, and given that the car is used publicly, I see zero reason why the chassis number should not be disclosed, especially as it's being posted here for sale.

We prefer to do inspections post-Classiche independent of any affiliates of the car, it serves us and our clients well, meanwhile always happy to help if we have a buyer.

Meanwhile to establish some asking numbers:

    Here's an interesting F40 asking £1,999,990 simonfurlonger.co.uk

    DK's 1-owner F40 with 43k miles was possible at £1,750,000 last we spoke www.dkeng.co.uk

If you already knew the S/N and all the information I gave you by PM, why did you ask me??

Anyway, it's done but I won't give any further information, sorry. I've already given too much.

This was part of my point. Euro-spec cars have an easier time getting into the US than the other way around. So the notion that US-spec values are propped up by a protected market with a lack of choice seems, to me, to be backwards. I would be more willing to buy the claim that US-spec values are propped up by their comparative rarity, but that's a whole can of worms because one could argue that any supercar's value is propped up by its rarity. Obviously an F40 doesn't trade for $2-4m solely based on its own merits, but also on the fact that it is a fraction as common as an F430.

This chart should be a good jumping off point for determining a good ask for such an F40. Expect FerrariChat to crush the image quality. Note that in the larger F40 report I created which anchors this thread, the numbers showed no significant price effect coming from model year or owner count.

Joe Sackey, are you stalking me, you are the only person on this forum to constantly quote virtually everything I post, then drone on about not droning on!

Yet again you feel the need to tell another member what they can and cannot say on here, and talk down to them, you are not a moderator, and have no more authority than any other member to post their reasoned views on an open discussion forum.

Yet again I remind you this is not the Joe Sackey forum.

I always support my reasoned views with facts, whether you like those or not is your problem, as I have said before in any debate, simply present any opposing view without attacking the person presenting them and let the readers decide based on those facts.

This is the second time I have now had to remind you of such, do it again and I will be reporting your actions to the moderators.

Paul, I would say what is happening is you are stalking this thread, and you're simply objecting to my putting your posts in their true perspective.
I'm entitled to my experienced view on the thread's subject matter, and it is still that your participation here is more about personal opinion, speculation and predictions, based on guesswork and your personal theories, all of which add no real value to someone coming on here looking to analyze the F40 market. That's my view and I'm sticking to it.
You can go crying to the moderators all you want, but you'll find it more useful to simply contribute actual corroborated sales data in keeping with the thread's topic, and whenever that happens I'll be the first to embrace your content.

Mark, you are the one who PM'd me, at a point which you had already posted images of the car making it clear to me which one it was, I asked for corroboration of the VIN number and I also let you know I knew which car it is by sending you images of it from my archive with it's previous registration. Remember, you volunteered the car on here stating it was looking for a new home, I requested confirmation of the VIN number www.ferrarichat.com which you ignored, Marcel then repeated the same request for the VIN number www.ferrarichat.com which you also ignored. Two other posters suggested that this is not the venue for an attempt to market this F40. Moral of the story, don't post an F40 on this market thread unless the VIN number can be fully disclosed, I'm not sure how that simple premise is hard to understand.
Meanwhile, I am not requesting further information, you have already stated your post above that if have a serious buyer, I should tell you and you will arrange an inspection to suit us, if that happens I will happily contact you and see if it's still available.

Yet another patronising post from Joe Sackey, personally attacking a fellow long term contributor of this forum.

Your opinion has no more validity on here than any other.

Two can play at that game, now you have yet again taken that course of action.

You always go on the attack whenever US spec F40s get mentioned, I am one of many you have attempted to talk down regarding this subject over the years.

Despite your inflated ego and constant self promotion, trust me, from the private messages I have received numerous times when you have tried to belittle my contributions many many people also see through your charade.

You have also now shown you are not one to be trusted when providing information you have been asked not to publish, well that is unless you are earning a buck from it, then your morality goes full circle.

A world renowned and totally trusted expert in these matters has shown his interest in my opinion on this subject, his like goes against everything you have posted, he constantly puts you in your place whenever you are wrong, that must rile despite your begrudging acknowledgement every time.

Stick to peddling other peoples property for a living.

Not really, what I do is dispel market myths being espoused about the variant, but this doesn't mean we're biased in favor of USA F40s or dislike Eu/ROW F40s, far from it, after all we can now import an unlimited number of the latter into the USA at this point so we are active with them, in fact the most recent F40 we've sold is a very nice Eu/ROW example, we love them equally!

Meanwhile anyone care to guess what the Alain Prost's F40 83249 achieved?
