That stuff is very good if aged correctly. There was a run of Forteleza last year where they didn’t age the stuff long enough due to the demand of recent popularity. You could definitely tell the difference.

Like many others, I am a huge fan of Casa Dragones Joven.

After polishing off my last bottle I saw the Anejo at the store and did a double take because I hadn't seen it before. So I bought it out of curiosity.

My take is that it's good, but not $120 good. Whereas imo the Joven is special and worth the price of admission, I found that there are numerous Anejos that are as good or better than the CD. In fact I like their base Bianco more over their Anejo and it's half the price.

Don't get me wrong, I am enjoying it ... there's just nothing particularly noteworthy about it.

    Salud!

My new favorite Tequila is The Bad Stuff Cinco, a five year Tequila distilled in the highlands of Arandas.

    But I am biased.

We selected five barrels of Extra Añejo aged in new French Oak with a medium toast.

    Salud

Well, I think the name is what most people think of when they remember Tequila but I'm guessing its heavenly. Enjoy
I'll put some on my shopping list, though I'm not sure it'll be the Extra Anejo ;)

Thanks Billy. Our blanco got 94 points and is around $45/$50. It is named La Mala Plata. Let me know what you think if you try it. It can be sipped without the usual Tequila burn.

Some good stuff posted above (Tears, Arette, Reserva de la Familia). Also some shockingly bad stuff (err, Don Julio?).

If you're looking for a great, smooth anejo, buy this Don Fulano.

Note further, pretty much anything out of NOM 1146 is worthy of a bottle purchase (Tears is also out of 1146). Another excellent pick up from NOM 1146 is the Fuenteseca Cosecha 2013. It's a white tequila that should be enjoyed straight.

So I don’t throw my $ around easily but I was able to be affiliated with this tequila and it’s amazing. When it comes to your state I recommend you try it.

Phenomenal IMHO - No pic handy but give it a try. Anejo is good and so is Blanco but the Repo is just ridiculous.

    Cheers :)

New neighbors moved in and thank my lucky stars, they're Tequila and Craft Beer lovers. Had some of this along with a Hop Venom IPA from Boneyard. Yummy.

Can’t go wrong with G4. Never had that bottle and don’t think I’ve ever had anything more expensive than $150. Irregardless, that will be tasty.

On another note, my recent go to’s have been:
    Sipping:
    Cascahuin Tahona Blanco
    Arte Nome 1579 Blanco
Wild Common Reposado (tried the still strength blanco and was a bit too much for me)
    Tequila Ocho Anejo
    El Tesoro Single Barrel Reposado

    Mixing, mainly ranch waters
    Insolito Rep/blanco
Arette Rep/blanco- one of my favorites recently for mixing

I have a Fortaleza Reposado and Blanco but not drinking those since I have not seen either in stores in over 6months. Was lucky to get the blanco a month ago at a local store after they pulled it out from the back for me.

Great list. The Forteleza seems to be definitely disappearing.

Thanks, I have always been a tequila drinker and over the past few years started diving into the smaller brands/more traditional style/no additives stuff. I always enjoy picking up a new bottle and trying it. Next up on my list to try is probably Cazcanes.

I fear that tequila will go the way of bourbon where the good stuff is impossible to find unless at 5x + retail. Thankfully Fortaleza seems to be the main one that is hard to get for now which is allowing me to spend money on other brands. Fortaleza is great and considered to be the best value but there are a lot that can hang with it. Glad I got to drink a few bottles before they became tough to get.

Please let us know how that Don Fulano is. I’ve heard good things so it’s on my “list”

Lucky you finding a Fortaleza Reposado
