Main issue for the Ford is parking. You have to be very careful to park on the end of a row where you are assured you can open the drivers door all the way! Can’t just barely open and sneak in and out because it is also the roof. Other than that, it is not too bad outward visibility- just very low…

You'll find enthusiasm for many different cars, but this being a Ferrari forum, you'll have a natural affinity for that marque. You're saying Ferrari is commodified; hence one should not be surprised if folks want to race.

I don't believe much about the motivation to race, which is fundamental to human nature. I've noticed that even on the running track, on rare occasions, a person will mimic my speed if I increase, in a sense, 'race' me.

Where we went off the rails is your exegesis on income, careers, and attainment of these cars. Your saying 'anyone' can get these cars - I think this is an oversimplification as if this is the case - then why dispute reality? There could be a Ferrari in every driveway.

    ***

I fully agree that the other points that others make are great. Ferrari does not have a monopoly on automotive nirvana. Different strokes for different folks, as they say.

The dude is trolling to get a rise, nothing more. Look at his other 25 odd posts...

    Losing brand exclusivity...GMAFB..
Ferrari (now) makes over 10,000 cars a year, still well under 300,000 total in lifetime production. You can't buy a new one for 2+ years.

Within the last 5 years you could buy a gated 550, or Testarossa for under 100k. The newer models all have or will go through their depreciation curves, some likely harder (2+2 cars). What does any of that have to do with 'anyone can buy a Ferrari'. By that logic, 'anyone' has always been able to do that, they haven't then, nor will they in the future. Fill in whatever exotic brand you want, same logic applies.

I read his other posts as some dude with a camaro, who didnt know how to drive, now has a job, and is playing with 401k projection calculators trying to flex.

Im not worried about walking up to the wrong Ferrari at Wal-Mart anytime soon. Nor do I own mine for any of the reasons he stated.

Perfectly said @Aerosurfer. Just weird ramblings about hourly rates and hours per week… I have no idea what my hourly rate is or how many hours/week I work— never even thought to try to figure that out lol. Just strange. I guess I could estimate pretty close but why bother? So I can publish it on a message board as a weak flex, all while being completely off topic? :)

He also lives in Califonia and has 3 kids. Those are great things, but both of those also cost $$$, and then he follows that up by saying he also likes jets. Maybe the J-E-T-S are playing the Rams this year in So-Fi...

    Great goals, though.

I had an 2005 Ford GT for 12 years and only hit my head / shoulder twice. It hurts enough to train you quickly.

You lean the turn, crouch, and squat walk until you are past the door. In a normal exit, you just hold on to the door inset with one hand to remind you where it is.

I enjoyed my 2006 Ford GT--nothing like an analog experience. It would definitely get sideways and bite if the power was applied with the wheels not straight or in low grip situations.

Still have mine but rarely drive. Need new tires and just keep putting that off. So she is a garage queen and just warms up for short drives around the block for now…

Hmmm. I think I’ll put that in my todo list!

I’m still here, busy with life. You’ll notice someone not retired can’t spend all day on a message board. ;)
Still see people are angry, carry on!

    F355, Testarossa, 308, 360, 430.
If a person can’t afford to save a few thousand a month for 3-5 years, well they should continue seeking education first and foremost.

I’m beginning to feel a lot of people here didn’t have to go through college, seek an education, or $. Whether it be through life insurance, selling a home in this market or some other windfall. Sounds like most here didn’t earn a living wage, to be this angry.

(By most here, I mean the angry ones just within this discussion).

If we look at the used car market for Ferrari on somewhere as simple as Cargurus, the ones people are getting rid of. There’s a larger availability than say a Mustang GT Mach 1.

You can still to this day find an F40, and only 213 made it to the states.. Yet, if you have the $3M, you can buy one. That’s 1987-1992 and you can still find one, in 2023. So money seems to be the issue, not rarity. You can still find LaFerrari’s.. if you have the $3.3-$4.

Also, weird flex still using Walmart with your Ferrari.

Your position is incoherent. You deride the perceived elitism of Ferrari by arguing it is now an ‘Everyman’ vehicle, and in the same breathe castigate its use to go to Walmart. (What’s wrong with Walmart?)

Your two diametrically opposed views is causing confusion.

it is an Everyman car you man child. If you can’t afford 80k for a car, you need to go back to vocational school like a teen. there’s plenty of apprentice programs and careers now days that allow anyone who has a brain, to afford things like this. If they choose not to, because they want an 80k truck, that’s because of choice.

Yes it was the coolest car we have owned, and it never broke down. Unlike some of my other rides. Easiest to drive as well. Light clutch, and at the top of 2nd and 3rd I would get a little tunnel vision it was accelerating so hard.

When it got so valuable that driving it around Dallas, with our ridiculous weaving texters around you was too much to risk, we sold her. Just 6 months too early. Got $275k and would have gotten a $100k more on recent BAT auctions had we waited and tried that option.

It did provide enough profit for my car partner and myself to buy a C8 vette in December of 2020. So far it's crazy good for the money, like it's looks, and has been reliable so far.

You are correct; I am a man with a child-like brain. Because of that, I was not intelligent enough and flunked out of college. I confess, I'm not a smart person. I try hard though to keep on trying to learn new things despite my natural learning disabilities.

So, as you said, I went to mechanic school to learn how to wrench. I'm not ashamed of that, nor do I take any umbrage of your description of me. It's true; I'm just a simple person (born with a below average IQ) who believes in hard work and an honest living.

That said, between rent, (rental, car, and health insurance), paying for my two kids to private school (since I want them to have quality education as you encourage), medical bills (I have a bad back), taking care of both my parents, as well as my wife's mom and dad, child care, my own school loans, retirement savings, and taxes, I can't seem to have enough left over to buy a Ferrari as you recommended.

Which of these things do you recommend I stop paying for?

    Kind regards.

He’s upset that I can’t afford a Ferrari, and can only afford to shop at Walmart. I’m honest that I’m poor and I’m not the smartest tool in the shed. I do try to work hard, be honest, treat people with respect (rich or poor) and not judge folks if they shop at Goodwill (such as I) lots of great vintage stuff there!

You're really going to push schooling as a way to generate wealth? I'm going to vehemently disagree on that one. School will get you a good job but definitely not wealth unless you're going to be in school for 10 years in the medical field and then wait another 10 to finally maybe have some kind of wealth.

I went to school and got my CPA 13 years ago, if I had worked as a CPA up until now I sure as hell wouldn't own a Ferrari and this was back when degrees were a lot more valuable not to mention much cheaper.

I’m not pushing Authority around, no. I believe education is vital, and if you can’t find an entry level position which can gain you enough profit to succeed within your endeavors, try again and research.
Bachelors are great for the few who “need” them. Do you think an Astronaut who only earns 150k per year, really cares about anything other than being an Astronaut? No.
Same thing with becoming a fighter pilot, they don’t earn the best $$$ or most, but they also used their 4 year degree to fly F16s, and warthogs, which money can’t buy and very few will ever experience.

I personally don’t know why getting your CPA was a waste, everyone knows controllers earn 200k+ and can easily hit the 300k-400k/Yr mark after 20 years. Not many people will be able to say they can achieve that, at 40-50. I digress, I know the big 4 are hell, and you earn 55k-60k (now, entry) to climb through the ladder, within early stages. I’ll also say, it isn’t abnormal for a CPA to hit $150k/Yr within 7-8 years of time, which can be considered lawyer income (depending specialty).

There’s a million ways to skin a cat. I’m just saying unless you go Vocational/Technical/Apprenticeship or 4 year it’s going to be a long, long process. In WA you can get your 16 month paralegal at 18/19, entry $28hr, and after 4 years of working under an Attorney (willing to sign off, and sign up), you can then take the BAR. You will not receive a JD, but you’ll be a licensed attorney without the debt. Transition up through the firm, and bingo. 23-24 a practicing attorney.

Some lack vision, and some lack drive. All of us, aren’t like that though and there’s more people with the technology at their fingertips that can craft their own destiny. Needing to engineer a product, create a business or become a landlord is truly a thing of the past when we envision ownership. 4 year ironworker apprentice, $56hr and it’ll go up to $60hr in a few years. That’s no college, and easily a $150k/Yr career with doing a little overtime. It takes a partnership, a duo and anything is accomplished.

I am cold though, so cold.
