Question: I don't imagine that the UK based teams would have time to return to the works from the cancelled Imola event and then continue on to Monaco. Do they just travel directly from Imola to Monaco and chill for a few extra days? Thanks.

I think Alfonso pole…..he is experienced, and not emotional like Charles. Verstappen #11 as he crashes in Q3 and Perez #4th. 2 and 3 Charles and George.

My understanding is that the TV coverage will be different as the local TV station in Monaco is no longer in charge.

Its supposed to be a lot better with new camera angles and better coverage of the race.

Without a crash from the over-sized cars, this is a very boring and useless circuit. Yes its dramatic and visually interesting. Along with Singapore its a boring race overall. History - is long over as far as interesting races.

PlanetF1.com understands that will now change from the 2023 race onwards after Formula 1 agreed a new deal with the Automobile Club of Monaco signed last year.

As part of the agreement, broadcasting duties will transfer to F1 who control much of the operations from their Biggin Hill base just outside of London.
Changes to Monaco’s deal in the past would have seemed a non-starter, such was the prestige and power the event had, but Formula 1 has seemingly made it known that the Monte Carlo track’s place in the calendar is not as certain as it once was.

With complaints over poor racing due to the size of the modern cars and the narrow streets where the race takes place, Monaco has often become a procession that is largely decided during Saturday’s qualifying.

There have also been recent complaints about the broadcasting of the race such as during the 2021 edition when the cameras cut away from an on-track battle to a replay of Lance Stroll going over a corner.

F1 is becoming NASCAR. I never thought I'd get to the day where my interest... which has always been quite rabid... begin to fade away. Maybe it's too many races, maybe it's the new fan, maybe it's the gimmicks, maybe it's the personalities... I don't know but it's not the same anymore.

New camera angles chosen by people who think they understand what parts of the race race fans want to see ?
    OR
New camera angles chosen just to be different ?

This is one of my pet peeves in race camera work, and most camera workers get it right, but the camera race director switches cameras just BEFORE the viewer gets to see the PHYSICS of the turn exit play out. This is the moment where the fan can see the real difference in the drivers (and their cars) assuming the fans bother to watch closely and understand (and relate) what they see to how their car reacts to their inputs.

    For Monaco::
the (down) bump just before Mirabeau (from behind not from the side)
the shot out of the chicane after the tunnel (angled so you can see both apexes and the run down the straight)
the acceleration zone after Tobac (from behind towards the swimming pool)
the acceleration zone leading to the main straight (from behind almost across from the restaurant pointing towards main straight)

The number of races don't make a Grand Prix exceptional like it used to be.
F1 is constantly adding new rules, and officials never stop interfering during races: that's becoming a pain in the neck.
And then, everything is immediatly challenged and contested by the teams.
The new audience seems to consider GPs are places to be seen, rather than focus on the racing.
GPs are literally infested by celebrities enjoying freebies with no reason to be there.
Too many people on an ego trip, if you ask me.
We must be too old !! It must appeal to young people, presumably.

My understanding is the old broadcasters were a bit of an old boys club unwilling to make changes to improve the coverage of the race. That has been the sticking point for many years, probably since Liberty took over.

Monaco is a place where unexpected winners can happen. Consider Jean-Pierre Beltoise, Olivier Panis and Jarno Trulli. Any guesses as to who could be a surprise winner this year?

It's an strange place to hold a GP, so one can expect an odd result.
