On TAV 22 of the series “E” parts books, it shows two shift shaft setups that cross the engine oil/ transmission sump compartments. The “O” rings and shaft tubes were updated. does anyone know at what chassis number or VIN the changeover occurred?

Not sure of the change over information but I went with quad rings over standard o-rings. Supposed to seal and wear better and also better in a push-pull situation like the shift shaft.

Changed all the “O” rings still leaks a little. My mechanic recommended epoxy the tube on the inside front and back. Thoughts?

Sorry, I was thinking of the o-ring that seals the shift shaft. I would use Hylomar to coat o-rings 22 and 23 if they are weeping. Epoxy seems overkill to me and would make the shift tube tough to remove in the future. Is the gearbox still in the car?
