Monaco is not a race track.

I've seen animal paths that are wider.

Start calling it 'The Monaco Path', because that's what it is.

And both of them had a bad qualifying(dry) AND a bad race. Not their weekend.

It depends. Would you like run-offs on a track or CQC(close-quarter-contact) track.

Surprised no one really binned it during the race......oh wait.....there's Stroll.

They need to make the track longer and the cars less wider, less longer and weigh less.

I loved the way George tried to weasel switching positions promising to give back the position. "That's a lovely dress Mrs. Cleaver." The Eddie Haskell of F1!

Well, Lance is Lance, so you can expect weekends like this from him now and again. Checo on the other hand…. A weekend he would want to forget very quickly.

    Monaco Grand Parade ;)
    Until it rains.

Ferrari still can't figure out strategy for a street course.
Pitted Sainz WAY too early for mediums. His tires must have been near shot when it started raining.

Has Monaco been oiling their roads?
Even with wet tires, nobody could find any grip.
Even Max was playing pinball between the bumpers.

I still assert there's something wrong with that track surface.

Chuck was going nowhere on his inters -- falling back into the other Alpine.
Is Ferrari trying to drop to 5th in the constructors?

F1 outgrew Monaco in the late 60’s

still the best venue (if not race) on the circuit

This comment after the race comes year after year, but nothing is done.
However dreadful that circuit is from a racing point of view, it's on the calendar every season.
Too must vested interests for the sponsors, the teams, or the jet set to see it disappear.
It's not the track's fault if the present formula is wholy inappropriate to race in the confine of Monaco.

I read this thread instead of watching the race, and was glad I did but now tempted to at least fast forward until the part with Carlos "raging".
Rooting for Ferrari has become comedy show.
Not one comment here about Lewis, except that Ferrari wouldn't cover him on the first pit stop?! They must not have broadcast any of his radio messages :p
    Great job Ocon and Alpine.

That’s what I have been saying this whole time.
Unless they fall out due to crash. They could start P15 and still win

I used to root for Ferrari to win, now I just root for them not to screw up.

It was done on the first race. Still kind of a WTF moment seeing them pass other cars like they were standing still.

Yes. Replace it with an oval. Seriously, F1 needs at least 1 race on an oval.

Which is weird is that Red Bull, Max and Honda created a very impressive winning machine.
And Honda decided to leave this ship..

That's because Honda is a big company, and Honda Racing has to plead its case regularly to get a budget to continue racing.
If the board lacks interest, or the shareholders think it's a waste of money, the racing department has to abandon some projects.
Last time, the racing department convinced the board that experimenting in hybrid technology would be beneficial to R&D.
Once they accomplished that, there was no reason to stay.
This time, they had to convice that research on zero carbon fuel from renewable energy would be something to look into.
Honda always has to justify its involvement in racing, which for them is a laboratory, and an academy for new engineers.
They are not pursuing record numbers in championships like teams in F1, they are looking for knowledge.

Young new audiences don’t even know what is a engine freeze rule.
They only know that a Honda power unit is dominating everything.:D
