there are some proper hospitality suites, so as to prevent culture shock :)

yes it was wheel to wheel with Felix’s wheel locked. a ton of energy being released (Kirkwood’s hit with the wall was 80 g’s and that was after he hit Felix and spun out….)

I think I want them to experience "True Americana." But you know what, it seems that only in the US is Formula 1 a mostly a high society form of motorsport. When I was camping at Spa there were several groups of guys with a truck, tarp in truck bed, fill bed with water = hot tub. They don't have NASCAR, F1 is their NASCAR. I think they will be right at home. Oh, pleasantly surprised of how many Europeans were at Indianapolis this year, I think it's a bucket list thing. I tell everyone, you can despise Indycar, or motor racing in general, you need to experience Indianapolis at least once.

    there are rednecks everywhere ;)

when there were a lot of Brazilian drivers in Indy, there were a lot of Brazilian fans. always a big Colombian contingent for JPM (regardless of series he was in). so it follows that Europeans would be interested with so many European guys in the series right now

True, but it is the highest place in the grandstand. You have to walk part of the way down to find a restroom and all the way down to get something to eat, like a pork tenderloin sandwich. I likened the architecture to my only visit to Wrigley Field: rustic, but adequate.

Yeah, if they expect a Penthouse box to be anything like a luxury suite, they'll be sorely disappointed!

Very good description. The sacrifices are worth it, seeing Turn 1, Turn 2 and Turn 4 from those seats is pretty special.

On the telecast, I saw several large groups of Mexicans cheering for Pato. And I'm sure there were Swedes who were glad when Ericcson and Rosenqvist were running 1-2!

You basically can see 1/2 the track, from the exit of turn 4 all the way thru the exit of turn 2, as well as action in the pits.

When I drove Route 66 in 2019, nearly all the fellow motorists I encountered were Europeans! Apparently there is a big annual gathering of Route 66 enthusiasts in......Pilsen, Czech Republic! A lot of things American seem to be on European "bucket lists".

I met a rather large gathering of European Harley Riders in Arizona that were doing Route 66. Must have been fifty bikes, all parked around the Hackberry General Store in Kingman. I recall they were mostly Germans, great group.

why do the cars come out of the turn onto the straight and snake down to the infield?
then back up the track for the next turn?

A few days before the race Marcus showed up by surprise at a bar where Swedish fans had gathered, a very nice moment!

    attempting to break the draft.

unnecessarily dangerous IMO, one of the restart crashes was due to this weaving, and on the last lap Joey and Marcus both went well into the pit lane entry doing this.

I am surprised they are still allowed to do this. I thought someone was going to hit the pit entry wall they were coming so close to it.

Finally got around to watching the DVR of the race.
(On the day, I fell asleep around lap 100. ;))

Well, once again they've turned a "500 mile" race into a sprint.

Forget the 199 other laps, let's do a sprint on cold tires!!
    Travesty.

Even the announcers (FWIW) were shocked that they pulled a red flag restart that close to the end.

I was a bit surprised that they put Newgarden in 2nd for the restart.
Before the red, when Marcus passed him, he dropped a few places.
Announcers tried to mark the positions at the moment the yellow light came on.

Seems like it was open season on Ganassi cars.
    The suddenly imbalanced wheel.
    The pit lane collision.
    The "redo" ending.
But then, Penske does own that track. ;)

They should be penalized for exceeding track limits where that broken white line is for the pits at a bare minimum. Break the draft all you want but keep it between the wall and the inside line. Newgarden looked as if he was below pit entry for a second, insane.

On that 2019 Route 66 trip, I also encounted a group of Germans on motorcycles, examining the Gemini Giant in Wilmington, IL!

Even at the track the pork tenderloin sandwiches were great. You might also want to introduce them to Cincinnati-style chili; there are a few Skyline Chili locations in greater Indianapolis.
