So my friend recently purchased a Ferrari Badge Reverse Mould from an online RM auction. There was no information provided for sale, but we figured it was unique and one of only a few items that might walk from the factory that could have some display value at home.

I forgot to take a picture of the back, but will post it in a follow-up when he sends it over. I had a chance to handle it when in Atlanta for the challenge races a couple weeks ago and while very stiff, it was much lighter than expected. My initial thought was that it's made of titanium, but I'm not sure. My best guess on era is the 94-02, just by comparing a few key differences with the previous and later one.

Does anybody have any insight they can share?

Start counting tail and shoulder hairs flowing in the wind.

@energy88 did that, plus noticed the delta region around the hind legs and a couple light reflection marks were more in line with the 94-02

@gxl hmm, now this makes me think it's the 2010+ logo. The upward leg angle looks like the 1981 or 2010, but the nether region looks more like the 2010 one overall

Here are fresh front & back images. I guess a few things I'm also hoping to learn:
    • Has anyone ever seen them make the badges at the factory (I went twice and don't recall seeing a badge or shield being made)
      • Does it press down like a stamp or is it filled like a cast
    • Does anyone know what the blue stain may be on the front?
    • Does anyone know why the back is green (the brown and clear just seem like an adhesive to set it into a machine, presumably)
    • Are these moulds used extensively or do they have a short life?

My first impression is a sand casting.
