Congrats! I used to have 2016 991 Turbo. The 991 is great platform. Enjoy!

I need to reply to this statement because it is so true...I took the time back in 1985 to find a super clean, low mileage 1980 GTBi and found one at Newport Imports. It had 8,614 miles on it, a solid black/black combo, a slight pressure dent in the right door, no rust, but some weather spotting due to SoCal morning dew. Bought the car for $29000 and had it shipped to Maryland. At 78K I made the decision to keep rather than buy new...See my article Why I Chose to Spend New Car Money on My Old Tech 308 GTBi.
Taking time to buy right and maintain can pay dividends in the long run. My recent major refurbish has given me a 2023 version of the car I originally bought, but now everything works as advertised. A low mileage car that is 30-40 years old is probably ready to rob your piggy bank in short order...

Certainly time for the seller to celebrate

Not much consistency in 308 values lately IMO but they are great cars at whatever price.

I was at a cars and coffee in Rancho SantaFe in San Diego and. A couple of guys were speaking what seemed like a Northern European language. and as they passed my Prugna 308 - “Ya Magnum” and then continued on speaking to one another. Our GTS bring out the Magnum - not matter what color. On a separate note, I had to explain the Magnum reference to a 20 something year old.

That 308 stigma will never go away.

Stigma? I think there's the Ferrari stigma more than anything 308-specific? Although seeing what some people are paying to service their 308s... some of that stigma is probably right on.

I'm the one who bought that car.

Did I pay too much? Perhaps.

Do I care. Not at all.

This car just checked the boxes for me. I think it is in very nice shape, and most of all, it isn't red. No offense to red car owners, I just didn't want red. I really like the black/red combo. It's such a classic combo, and looks good on so many different cars. I had never seen it on a 308.
One thing that was significant to me were the comments from the previous owner, and also those from the photographer. I thought the seller presented the car very well. So I set myself a limit, and the sale price was it. Had someone beat it, it wouldn't be mine.
Now I'm just waiting for it to arrive. It hit the road yesterday pm, and has to come about as far east as it can (outer banks, NC). This is by far the worst part, but when you go looking for specific, not exactly common cars, you have to look nationwide, and some worldwide. I've been through it before, with my 1965 Big Block Corvette Coupe, and more recently with my 1963 Super Stock Plymouth.

Carter, Welcome Brother!!!! Loved that car. Like you, it checked all the boxes for me. Then again, I'm partial to black GTBs. This 308 section is active and very informative/helpful. So glad you popped in to introduce yourself. Sounds like it will have some muscular stablemates.

Mint not even close to necessary. Strong engine is the only requirement. I don't care if the seat is torn

    You have one in mind?

Yup. Anything above 60 would be surprising to me between the accident on carfax, a good amount of deferred maintenance and a less than stellar presentation

No. Being involved with 308's for 42 years, I'm not one of the usual buyers who worries about some of the silly things people considered serious problem areas such as a missing tool kit.
