Lets say you're 100% correct and the tyres are really good. You also said they look and perform remarkably similarly to the Michelin. So what you are essentially saying is that you are willing to accept a breach of copyright and intellectual property theft so it saves you a few bucks? That's the problem with the West - to save a few bucks, we are prepared to sell out on our values and principles.
Yeah I know - hence my 30 year comment. By the 70's the Japanese were renown for quality. The Chinese 30 years later still have not shaken off that reputation for poor quality or breaching copyright.
I don't believe that, XWXs are easily sourced. I had Longstone in the UK deliver them to my door in less than a week.
That question should be directed to Michelin. You're building a straw man, Rennie. I said no such thing.
Historically Rennie, the Chinese are slower learners re quality hence my comment. And anyhoo both Pat and I have put CT's on performance cars and have obviously found them better than quite acceptable.
I had,for whatever reason,a very short timeframe to access tyres and put on the first correct size and speed rating I could find.
Its not a learning thing - its a cultural thing! Its not about the performance of the tyre, its about respecting copyright and integrity over saving few bucks. I'd buy XWX and pay twice or three times the price knowing I got the original brand (and better spec given the TWI is 100). And this is coming from someone is who doesn't make much income.
Lets burn the straw man Doc! I'm not trying to cause trouble and bicker! Honest. But lets not sell out our brand value for a few bucks. I'm not one for paying more than necessary - unless paying more really does confer mutual benefits.
Simon, I'm sooo looking forward to buying that replica Ferrari made in China and saying the same thing
I'll wager that most on here don't have a clue where their Michy's,Yokie's,Bridgie's,Pirelli's etal are actually made....and will be shocked and stunned when they find out.
There is no way in the world I will ever put Chinese brand tyres on Horse, Zerogo or the Clubby. And I will never buy a Chinese car, they don’t build anything to aspire to, only cheap crap. I bought a Mazda RX3 coupe when I was at school because it was fast, interesting and COOOOL. Touch thirsty for a 17 yo’s income though… Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
FFS it’s not about where they’re made it’s the company behind it. So tell me if the Pirelli, Michelin or Wing Wong Rubber Company were all the same price, which one would you buy?
Ok so why did Pirelli get the Chinese make Ian's tyres......and other companies whom get them to make theirs.
