Hey guys, My rear passenger side shock is leaking and I was trying to find a replacement. I did try to research aftermarket ones getting sold on ebay and couldn't find much information on them. So, does anyone here has any experience with them? They are quite cheap compared to OEM... But just trying to figure out if they are a good value proposition or something to stay away from. Seller claims he has sold these to many Ferrari customers. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rear-RH-or-LH-Shock-Absorber-w-Magnetic-For-Ferrari-458-Italia-Speciale-Spider-/194942673962?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p4429486.m46890.l6249&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0
That's like 10X cheaper... If it were me, I would contact a place like Ferrparts or ExoticsAutoRecycling and get a used one before using one off ebay that is supercheap (relatively) speaking.
Yea, hard to find used ones on these, also it's likely that used ones might start leaking as well just based on the age from when our cars were built. If someone confirms here that they have good luck with these and these last 3 to 4 years, I would not mind at all .. lol
I don’t know for me when it’s some thing as important as a suspension component on a high-performance car I wouldn’t take any chances.
if it's as hard as you say to find replacements......... for 200 bucks, **** why not. Try it and see.
Years from now someone will share this in a forsale thread for this car haha IMO for 200 bucks it's worth a shot
You can send you shock here and have it refurbed. https://nagengast.pl/en/about/ Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
I was really hoping someone experimented with this and I was not the first one... Lol Thanks for the information guys, hopefully someone has experience with this here and posts.
I don't know where you're located but there are aftermarket suspension shops that will rebuild shocks. In north Texas there is one called Inertia Labs. You might reach out to them and see if they can help you.
I found a US rebuilder, $795/one shock, in Fort Lauderdale, FL: https://rebuildmastertech.com/ferrari-458-2009-2015-oe-rebuilt-replacement-front-left-right-shock-absorber-301450/
Thank you so very much, I am based in Houston, but will most definitely reach out to these shops and see if they can help me out.
I bought a pair from this seller and had the indy install them for leaking front shocks found on a PPI. Indy had no problems, issues or concern installing them and is a reputable Motorsports shop. They ride fine and respond to the bumpy ride mode quite well. To me they are indistinguishable from OEM. We'll see how long they last but I could buy 4-5 sets of them before spending as much for Original Ferrari parts. Esp since some of these cars are driven for very short distances over their lifetimes. If you are tracking then that is another matter.

Snapshift, thank you so much dude!! I am glad folks like you exists!! Do you actually feel any difference when you put the car in bumpy road mode or race mode? Also hopefully no electrical issues
Yes, I can feel a difference in bumpy road setting, albeit slight. Illinois roads are crap and bumpy road setting is not optioned in race mode. It is in sport mode. No electrical issues. They seem fine for my type of driving and I can but 4-5 sets of shocks if needed for the price of the Ferrari taxed ones. They seem fine to me and the installed had no issues with them, and did not discourage me from using them.
See my posts here: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/458-shocks.658564/#post-148499327 2 of mine where leaking and for the price I got a set of 4 for at the time and for what they even cost now no way will I pay the Ferrari Tax for their shocks that will eventually leak I’ve got mine lowered with spacers and it drives awesome So win win
