Getting ready to replace the voltage regulator and am questioning whether I'm missing a connection. On the alternator there's a stud on the left that appears to have had something attached to it. There is no wire I can find and the ground strap is attached where it was prior to the major (I put the nut back on loosely for it so I'd know which stud it attached to). I don't remember there being anything there, just the 3 prong plug and ground strap. Did I just lose a bolt or is there supposed to be something attached there?

Yep, I figured it just lost a nut as I dove further into it and the other two were loose, not even hand tight.

Here's the voltage regulator, completely fried...

Fell apart as I removed it. Put the new (Denso) one in and 14.6V at idle. Took about 20 minutes, super easy job.

Nothing gets attached to it. It's one of the studs that the rectifier mounts to, under the aluminium cover plate. Just put the 8 mm nut back on and tighten it up.
The earth strap is on one of the 'through bolts'.
