    • Yikes!, That gullwing dealer GTB is about 30K overpriced. Save yourself & buy a top dollar example instead.

I've never seen a fair priced car from Gullwing. They tend to think their fixer-upper cars are worth concours condition prices.

    Good day Christopher,

I know of one recent car where the price paid... at least what was told to me... was close to $50K below market value... and overall not a bad car (driver quality). When I was told about the purchase I cringed, but was told that the car checks out. I have not yet seen the car myself and so I am in a bit of disbelief, but perhaps every once in a while a reasonable driver level car sells for reasonable $?

    Cheers,

    Sam

I hope so! Being an owner, of course we want our values to be high, but there's driver level cars, concours level cars, and so on. When I was pursuing my 308, I had seen several listed by Gullwing, and they were asking "excellent" condition prices for cars that were barely "driver" level. So I was turned off to them fairly early on! But, I would see those cars sit for sale for months on end (years in some cases), eBay auctions would receive no bids, etc. But, if you can get one $50k below market, then I can't see that as anything but a win!

Peter, the owner of Gullwing, saw my Mondial coupe when I had it for sale at another dealer and threw out a pretty fair offer, it was still on the wholesale level but it was more than I would of thought a dealer would offer. I think with Gullwing you just have to know what you are looking at and also negotiate price.

    Carter,
Has your car arrived? Just wondering about your new toy. Also, I know it had spare wheels and was curious how those were transported.

    Thanks,

    Bill

    SMS,
Yes, the car arrived about a week ago, in good knick. I've been enjoying it as much as the tourist traffic here will allow. The carbs are a little "boggy", mostly at lower revs, but pick up well as the engine spins up more.
The original 14" wheels and the original exhaust/smog pump arrived through a seperate shipper, as they were located in New England. The exhaust components were crated and the wheels and tires were strapped and wrapped to a pallet.
Everything, including the car were very professionally shipped by quality shippers. I was very pleased, as I've dealt with some pretty shaky-d shippers in the past.

You'll probably have to set your carbs for your area, so unless you are into Webber carbs you will need to shop for a good tuner in your vicinity. Enjoy your car!!!

Thanks Cameron. Hope you guys let me still hang around in this section. ;)
She’s heading to northern Wisconsin. I had a really good time with that auction. Not just the last 2 (30) minutes but prepping the car and everything.

Looks like we set a BaT record today for a steel body GTB. And 11th highest 308 overall.

    Mr. John,
I thought about that, so I checked the Sacramento, CA website. It said the elevation there was 26ft, which kinda surprised me.
The elevation here on the island is about the same, 24ft. I don't think there's any other environmental parameter that would affect the carbs, but hey, I've been wrong before...

    Thanks for the advice!

    Carter
