Thought this kid deserves his own thread. An Aussie, 20 years old, favorite road car is the F40, favorite track is Spa. Perhaps someone will tell us that the car was specially prepped to turn the fast lap, and I know it's a mistake to read too much from test times but, in any event, well done! http://www.danielricciardo.com/
Ricciardo had greater natural speed than Rosberg, but perhaps didn't get a proper roll of the dice in order to reach his goals
"Sometimes there are harvests that fail to bloom; there are also some which, after having flowered, have no grain." Confucius.
I'm reminded of a quote: "Son... you're ego is writing checks your body can't cash." If there's anyone who needs to go away, it's Ricciardo.
The talent was there , it is in his head . Must be personal issues or something of the sort , he has lost his edge . It is very perplexing
And maybe he hasn't either. Sometimes, it's in the subconscious, with the subject not even realising.
May not be a bad thing. Look at Gasly after being stepped back to Minardi after 'failing' at RB, he even gave the team their second ever victory (yes name change, but it's the same team). Ricciardo had to leave RB, when he was there he was a match for Max at the time, but Max was in his ascendancy and RB have always played favorites. His marketability, and probably last 0.01 second of lap time have gone away in his Alpine/McLaren stint, but I'd be willing to bet he's head and shoulders above Tsunoda and certainly DeVries. With the plan to revitalize A.T. and make them closer to the RB cars again, he could be the perfect driver for them to move up the grid, and compare new young guns against.
Ricciardo testing in the RB19 at Silverstone currently. Rumor-->Ricciardo going to Alpha Tauri to replace De Vries. De Vries is out of F1 in the meantime.
Autosport -- What a win for RIcci. Was paid and released. Now paid to race LOL Ricciardo to replace de Vries at AlphaTauri F1 with immediate effect Daniel Ricciardo will make a shock in-season Formula 1 comeback with AlphaTauri from next week's Hungarian Grand Prix, replacing the ousted Nyck de Vries.
This guy is like a skin condition. It never goes away. Welcome back to the most overrated driver on the grid.
Yes this car's is bad, but if Riccardo goes faster than Tsunoda straight-away, then it proves a point. Tsunoda hasn't impressed me that much. Yes, he limits his mistakes compared to others, but the speed I'm not sure.
most overrated? The guy is a multiple winner. Won in a car a four times WDC couldn’t win in, and had the same number of wins as Max in the last year they were team mates. No one is predicting he’ll one back and start winning in a Minardi, but come on, he’s got solid results and has earned his right to a seat on the grid.
Don't forget that was a few years ago. Since leaving Red Bull, Ricciardo has been steadily declining, apart from one opportune win. He was recruited by Renault and McLaren to lead their team, and did nothing. I am rather pessimistic about his present form.
