Good morning , I have a 2011 California , this morning I went out to it, tried to open the boot without success I had to open it with the key , then I tried to put the roof down and it wouldn't go , the rear window went up onto the roof then it stopped and I heard a bleep , so I went out in it , come back and it works fine .
any ideas what could cause this and is it common ?

Did you have the engine on or off when you tried and it failed?

If you search this sub-forum you will find many threads on this. It is likely a low battery which limits certain functions of the car. You have two options:

    1) Put car on the battery tender and fully charge the battery then start the car and try again.

    2) Take the car for a ride to charge up the battery and while car is running try again.

The car is on charge when ever it is not in use , I drove it for an hour or so the night before and put it right back on charge when I got back

Hmmm… I have experienced what you did a few times and it was always just a battery charge level. I wish I had other suggestions for you.

I had a faulty hall sensor in the roof mechanism and the symptoms were intermittent. Replaced via the Power15 warranty.

Motorized tops are an issue on Calis. My top went bad - parts are on order from Italy. 7k+ repair. Better get the car to a quality shop to inspect.

I’ve never experienced any issue with my cali30, but what I hear from other Ferrari owners is indeed that many time issues come from the battery charge level (that’s why I keep a battery booster at home).

It's possible that you confused the car by opening the trunk with the key instead of the remote, so it may have thought the trunk was not closed and stopped the motion. If the top is operating normally now, I would just wait and see. You might try disconnecting the negative terminal on the battery for 5 minutes to reset all the ECUs. There is a procedure to reconnect if you search this forum for it.

If it is a hall sensor, typically the roof will stop operating midway and refuse to move until the car is restarted, or you will get random beeps and "roof failure" messages when the roof is fully open or closed. The sensors are soldered into the wiring harness for the roof, so it can be challenging to figure out which one it is, but the factory is good in assisting with troubleshooting that.

Also a good idea to make sure there are no hydraulic fluid leaks and to have the top inspected and lubed at each annual service.

Any sort of mechanical noise or suddenly slow (or fast) operation, I would stop operating it immediately.
