So yesterday night, took the car out to dinner near by my house. After driving it for about 20 minutes we arrived at restaurant, ate, and came out and the car was flickering and wouldn’t start. Kept trying for 15 mins. Got warnings that said low beam failure I believe. So I went home, got the portable jumper, when and started the car and drove it home. I put it on the tender and the car starts on its own, but now tells me “Engine Control System Failure, go to dealer” Car is 5 months old (2023 F8 spider) 1,400 miles Any idea what may be wrong? This is the second issue in 5 months, needed a new fuel pump about a month ago. Dealer is coming to pick up Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Don't know but since your car is so new and others here have had those problems when their cars were new too makes me think that when these cars were on the ships coming over from Maranello, just exactly how many of them were plugged in for the journey. Just guessing but I would say maybe none. If so, that is not a good way to get a battery off to a good start. The fuel pump issue is not anything I have heard of being a problem whatsoever.
The first rule of Ferrari ownership should be replace the battery. New 488 and F8; both batteries failed within 9 months. Replaced with Interstate batteries and never looked back.
Yep! Replaced factory battery with an Interstate before taking delivery. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Same thing happened to me. Out to dinner, shut down and then won't start. Bad battery, the F8 was one month old.
Same issue here. Valet had to jump at the restaurant. 22 F8 replaced the battery with Interstate and has been good since.
My 2022 F8 battery died in less than 2 months and left me stranded at a gas station. Before you ask, yes, it was ALWAYS on the factory tender when not being driven or washed. I would even plug her in when drying and waxing the car.
How often did you drive it? These cars, and the batteries, need to be driven. Tender is good, but that's like trying to live off of a diet of vitamins and protein powder. Ok, once in a while. But the body needs real food. Same with the car.
Not true at all, they do not need to be driven and the battery maintainer works perfectly. Where I live, my SpecialeA sits for 6 months straight without being started and you know what, it fires right up with a tap on that starter button! Not sure how hold my battery is, I have owned the car for 2 years and Ferrari didn't even know how old it was. Guessing a good 4-5 years old. As I had said earlier I think in this post, when these cars are shipped from Italy, its a long time for those batteries to sit there not on a tender and I think that compromises them but I can't validate that thought.
Not a 100% on OP topic but very tangential, what is your in car (dash) volt meter show when driving? Mine is at 11.9 to 12.1 with any type of acceleration, even a slow cruise. If I am off throttle and coasting but slowing down due to engine breaking it gets as high as 13.6 to 13.9. The reason why I ask is that after a long drive off 1.5 hours. I noticed it takes the battery tender 4ish hours to turn green after being plugged into the car.
