348 140Amp alternator bracket

Anyone know if this is the correct upper bracket mount for Nippon Denso 140Amp alternator?
Anyone have the measurement of the upper bracket?

 

Not possible to tell from looking at the picture because the 105A and 140A brackets are very similar except that the 140A one is slightly shorter. When I installed my 140A kit, I did not measure the length of the new bracket but I still have the old 105A one on which the distance between the two end holes, measured centre to centre, is 130 mm. If the bracket you have has the mentioned distance, then it is for a 105A Denso.

From what I remember, the distance between the two end holes of the 140A bracket is probably around 110 mm (+/-).

 

So this is probably the 105A bracket and this is the 105A alternator as there is no label. I googled the stamp number and it's 120Amp

Definitely aftermarket no brand alternator, some are good, some are bad. Densos have ND stamped on the back cover. 120 amp would be good though, I have seen as much as 180 amp aftermarket ones.

 

upgrading to 140A Nippon Denso alternator is not easy. Difficult to find the 140Amp unit. Can't find the upper bracket anywhere and since no part number, no one seem to know what they are.
Also does anyone know what belt size are used for the 140A unit? Is it the same as the 105Amp unit.

 

It was sold as a complete kit with 1 part number is why.

I guess it’s not likely that I will find the upper bracket. I’ll just get the upper bracket for the 105A and mod it. Is it just shorter or different shape too. Anyone have the picture of the upper bracket for the 140Amp unit?

105A - p/n 156703/199830 - 760 mm long (5PK760)
140A - p/n 156239 / 199828 - 779 mm long (5PK779)

It appears that 5PK779 is made only by Dayco (maybe custom size for Ferrari). I recently bough one from Ferrari parts supplier but the belt was 12 years old! I then bought a Gates 5PK780ES (just 1 mm longer, ES stands for "extra service") and the belt I received was just a couple of months old. Looks very good quality.

Looks like a part number stamped on it by the sharpie? I have the 140 amp and it has a plate on it.
To my eyes that looks too small to be the 140. That looks quite small. The 140 is quite large, few inches wider.

I ordered this from Eurospares. They told me it’s the 140Amp version

But you are right it does look small for 140Amp unit.

I always assumed the 140 was the same or compatible with the 355. Meaning one would use the 355 alternator which I think is 140 amp. Need to verify but since your going to make a bracket anyhow...

The 355 alternator looks identical in pics, at least at first glance.

It used to say '156335' but that is crossed out, and then written as 149627

 

Edit.... the scratched out portion reads '156235'

 

I have taken pictures of my spare 140A Denso for your comparison. It's weight is 6.2 Kg (your unit is probably lighter). Your "140A" appears to be a rebuilt unit but not from the original 140A 348 alternator. It may actually be an "upgraded" smaller 105A unit. Some rebuilders claim that their units have higher Amps simply because they may have installed higher Amp rectifier diodes but this will not increase the output at all.

156235 is p/n of the 140A Denso alternator, not of the bracket. 149627 is p/n of the upper bracket for 105A Denso.

I can see some differences at the areas pointed at by the blue and red lines. The big "eye" for the rubber bush on your bracket is biffier so it could be for the 140A alternator which you can verify by measuring the distance between the two end holes, centre to centre. If this distance is smaller on your bracket than that shown on my bracket, than it is for the 140A unit. (I did not measure my 140A bracket at the time of installation but I remember that it was somewhat shorter).

If your bracket is for the 140A alternator, then its number should not be 149627 which is for the 105A Denso bracket. In that case, the crossed writing would be correct, only it should state "For Alt. 156235". Or, since there is no Ferrari p/n for it, you can invent a new number like "149627-140A".

 

My car has the Dayco #5050310, I believe it's 787mm, it's a bit too long actually.

Regarding 140 amp Alternator:

• I ordered Gates 5PK780ES from Europe, its 3mm narrower and 1/3 shorter.
• I also ordered 156239 from FNA, it is wider and longer by a noticeable amount. I think the vendor switched the 239 with 329.

 

The Dayco #5050310 length is better than the Dayco #5050310 its only 8-10mm shorter but that's all it takes.
If you find one be sure you confirm it is not 156329.

 

I didn't notice before but the Gates I bought, advertised as 5PK780ES, is actually 5PK780HD having width of 16.8 mm. The Dayco I got from a Ferrari supplier is 17.8 mm so the Gates is just 1 mm narrower. Otherwise, the length of the Gates is practically same as the original Dayco 5PK0779 I had (and same as Dayco 5PK0780 shown below). Is your Gates 5PK780ES narrower than 16.8 mm?

• Dayco #5050310 - My old belt, correct width, perhaps 10 mm or too long but very close, it was on my car and working but squeals now and its at the top of adjustment.
• Dayco 5PK780ES - My new belt, correct width, correct length, fits pullies fence to fence. 17.6 mm wide and about 10 mm shorter than my old Dayco 5050310 above but same width, length is stared at 780mm.
• Dayco 5PK779/156239 - OEM Belt it is correct length, 17.8 mm wide, and 779 mm long (from your post above), I don't have one, tried ordering and got 156329.
• Dayco 156329 - Not even is the ball part for fit, carful vendors don't transpose them.

5PK779/156239 (factory belt) and my new 5PK780ES as far as I can tell are compatible I have it in my car and adjusts fine, it fits pully fence side to side and is 1mm longer as you mentioned, it and it is about 17.6 mm wide so .2 mm narrower.
