Could be just another "shelf filler". Too early to tell. Performance, design and beauty have been the hallmarks of Ferraris machines since the first car badged with the Prancing Horse appeared in the late 1940s. And the prestigious Italian photography studio, Maggi & Maggi, have captured so many of these masterpieces, creating the most comprehensive image library of Ferrari production cars in the world. Around 180 production models are captured, starting with the very first car, the 125 S of 1947. All the classics are beautifully presented, from the 250 GTO of the 1960s and the Dino 246 GT of the 1970s, to the F40 supercar of the 1980s and the Enzo of the 2000s, with detailed close-up shots, technical information and racing versions along the way. "A Dream in Red: Ferrari by Maggi & Maggi is an exceptionally designed and insightful celebration of this legendary manufacturer, filled with imagery as stunning as the cars themselves." As it’s described as “The definitive photographic celebration of Ferraris production cars ” I wouldn’t expect it to be very informative. Nathan
Maggi & Maggi is/was a photo agency in Italy. They have many color transparencies taken in the 80s, 90s, etc. I assume/speculate that this is just a compilation of those pix. At the time I looked thru their archive (approx. 20 years ago) there was zero interesting for me there. Marcel Massini
From Paolo Maggis Facebook Page: 21st of April 2021 "With pleasure and satisfaction after 6 months of long negotiations I can announce that the MAGGI & MAGGI FERRRARI Archive (over 100,000 images of Ferrari Stradali alone) enters the large family of MOTORSPORT Network, I thank my friend Ercole Colombo for having acted as Guarantor." Many thanks! The layout looks ransomly arranged and confused like from Veloce or Giorgio Nada Editore ...
Not new or specifically Ferrari, but I just received the John Saltinstall's Jacky Ickx "authorized competition history" (Evro Publishing), which along with listening to Derek Bell's Dinner with Racers episode this week has me reveling in the past One thing I had not realized was that Ickx had done many, many laps of the Nurburgring in small displacement sedans in the years before his eye opening 1966 German GP debut in the F2 Matra. And I'll always love those 1968 Ferrari 312s that he and Amon drove. Highly recommend both book and podcast.
Just saw on ebay (in Germany) a copy of Ferrari in camera advertised for EUR 1,500. It is reported as a publisher's copy, therefore unnumbered. I was not aware of unnumbered copies of limited-numbered books, I wonder if anyone here has some comments about that.
Yes, there are. In 2021, out of the blue, Palawan Press announced six new, unnumbered copies of "Bentley Continental Sports Saloon" by David Sulzberger und Christian Hueber. And there are several additional unnumbered copies of Aston Martin DB4GT around.
A publisher will always produce a few extra copies for review by magazines. These are often indicated as HC (hors commerce), or AP (artist proof), and are not part of the edition. In the case of Palawan, unused HC/AP copies are offered for sale because of demand and the opportunity to recoup some of the costs.
