And that Gerini is neither on the entry list or on the results list..... BTW, nitpicking on names again: is the full name Guerino or Gerino Gerini?
I didn’t know that, many thanks Marcel ! Now you have opened our appetite with 0276MM , could you tell us if you have a picture of #430 at the Giro di Sicilia? is it a PF berlinetta or a Vignale spyder or something else ? Thanks in advance !

Great posts ! Many thanks Björn !! Enzo Pinzero raced 0022M at this time. I have plenty of pictures of Italian hillclimbs that I didn’t find the time to post...
0022 M was owned at that time (28 June 1953) by Elio Checcachi of Prato (near Florence) and still registered on Florence license plates. I have the paperwork. Enzo Pinzero of Torino acquired 0022 M from Checcachi on the 23 October 1953. The car was re-registered on Torino license plates on 9 November 1953. Marcel Massini
That doesn’t prevent him to drive the car. Enzo Pinzero raced 0022M at Varese-Campo dei Fiori on 14 June 1953 if I'm not mistaken...
Gerini is not mentioned on the starting list or the results for Giro di Sicilia, so you must have another source for this piece of information - with an eventual photo, perhaps? We know Gerini raced 0237EU in Trieste Opicina (21.6.53) and Björn's photo shows he was also in Chiusaforte a week later. As this car would loosely fit the description of "Cornacchia's 250 MM" it looks quite obvious the same car was also raced (and perhaps crashed) in Giro di Sicilia, but finding material to back this claim up might take a long time unless you are willing to share what you have. Cheers, Kare

Scuderia Gustalla I think, then owned by Moroni in 1953 and raced by Cornacchia at Monza with #24. 0237EU was not there or DNS.
Ascari stepped on central throttle pedal by instinct when Bianca Maria Piazza suddenly "closed the door" on him, hitting the right rear corner of her Berlinetta, turning 45 degrees to the right and catapulting out into the wild felling trees for about 50 meters before finally stopping in middle of nowhere. When rescue team finally found him, he was strolling around peacefully with hands behind his back, looking around and muttering: "I've always wanted a boulevard named after me!" Attahed photo was published by Auto Motor und Sport. Image Unavailable, Please Login

Did Ascari's car roll over? Post #218 shows a rolled car, post #216 not. Of course the photo in #216 could have been taken when the car was rolled back on it's wheels, but I can not imagine Ascari strolling around unhurt after rolling the car and stopping upside down....
I was thinking the same when I found the footage showing the car upside down. I understand that the car finally hit something and turned over in relatively low speed, throwing Ascari out of car at that point. The rescue team was prepared for far worse, and they were quite relieved when they found unhurt Ascari walking around and cracking jokes. As we all know, he would die on this same track about two years later, in a relatively similar accident, this time crushed by the car he was driving.
29 June 1953 was a Monday. GP dell'Autodromo in Monza. 24 = 0070 M with Cornacchia. Three portholes, different air intake on hood and front, different grille (compared to 0237 EU). No chrome stripe below the door. Italian license plates from Milan "MI 199194" (issued 11 September 1952). The day before, Sunday, 28 June 1953, Guerino Gerini raced 0237 EU at the Chiusaforte -Sella di Nevea hillclimb (north of Udine). Not in Monza, which is 460 kms away. Two portholes, different air intake on hood and front, different grille surround, with a chromed stripe below the door. Different license plates from Milan (MI 211300) than 0070 M (issued 1 April 1953). Marcel Massini
The good old days when safety belts were not mandatory. Many years later drivers still refused to use them because they preferred to be ejected from a crashing car over being trapped inside a crashed car (with imminent danger of ignition of leaked petrol).
Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Like Kare, I don’t think 0276MM was ever crashed at Giro di Sicilia on 12 April 1953 and rebodied for the GP dell’Autodromo on 29 June 1953. Anyway, do we all agree the spyder body was made by Morelli ? Some historians said it was made by Motto but the script on 0276MM in 1954 really looks like to Morelli. What do you think ? Thanks in advance.
