They need a version of the Canadian wall of champions on the outside of turn ten. I mean right on the edge. Problem solved.

I almost gave up on watching the race after penalizing Charles while letting both red bulls of the hook, Max impeding Elton was cut clear.
I'm fed up with this crap...
All the drivers whinning about the others, like litle brats on kindergarten....mommy, mommy, he farted, he stole my pencils, he ate the cake.....for God sake, is this a sport or wtf is it!
Fia, drivers, team principals, the lack of sortmanship in F1 is beyond words, i have been a devoted fan since i was 4, but i don't know how much longer i will waste my time watching this crap.

Apparently they had to check around 1,200 track limits infractions during this GP.

Time to look for a different method.

    Saw that.....1200 infractions!!! That's mindblowing!!!

Agreed, they(FIA and track organizers) need to come up with a better solution. Either walls or grass/gravel....especially in the turns that received the most infractions.

great passing today, sad whining by lil lewee, finally had to get spanked by Wolff to shut his mouth, time to retire, and Carlos 2nd in whining sweepstakes

Funny that officer Russell was more quiet today. I think that maybe the cars are a tad bloated for this track. It was a good race, but the 3 day later stuff is stupid. Maybe just digitize each race, let AI analyze it then broadcast the results 8 hours later for all to see.

Looking at those laps of Carlos defending, He really drove the **** out of it. He should had driver of the day, Clean racing, but on the limit.

I agree that these post-race penalties are ********.
There has to be a fairly easy way to automate "track limit" penalties.
Like tiny cameras on the corners of the wing, pointed down: if they don't see black tarmac they note an off and the stewards and teams instantly get a notice.
Reviewable/challengeable if the team thinks there's been an equipment malfunction.

Impressive pace by the Ferrari boys.
Even if they're still far behind RB there seems to be definite, significant progress.

I hear you. Diminishing interest is real battle for me. But I would have gleefully followed every second of coverage if a Haflinger race broke out had this weekend’s Pirelli compounds been contaminated.

I they are going to monitor track limits then they need to simplify it. First time a flag, second time drive through the pits (without a pit stop), third time disqualified from the race. If someone totally goes off the track, automatic drive through the pits penalty. If the rules are fair and fast and more severe, the drivers will comply.

Enjoyed the race, give credit to still 4th place Ferrari to look 2nd best today.
-HAM whining and then getting a 2nd penalty with probably more radio broadcast on TV than anyone else!…still don’t like him
-I think SAI had a good point about boxing both cars under VSC. Why not split the strategy there?
-The last 2 turns have had track limit problems since we returned to Austria, so if the drivers were told not to exceed track limits there it’s they’re fault, although yeah there must be a better solution.

induction coil around the track, pickup on the car.
Pickup receives E-M field, red light comes on.
    (And shock collar. ;))

Or plant astroturf outside the racing line.
    Carries its own penalty.

But if you have 1200 off-track excursions, ...
    ... WIDEN THE TRACK. (duh)

Despite all the b.s., I thought it was the most enjoyable race in a while this season; and it was a good day for Ferrari in terms of how the car performed. Gives me some hope for second place in Constructors and a tiny glimmer of hope to get closer to RB before the end of the season.

BTW, am I the only one thinking “when the hell will Max make a DNF mistake” and allow a non-RB driver to get P1 in a race? Probably never since he’s getting zero pressure from anyone and is driving ridiculously well.

Sainz has proven how underrated he is this season. He's matured a great deal and frankly, has better race craft right now over Leclerc, even if he is slightly slower on pace.

Overall, I thought this was one of the best races so far. It was the first race that I didn't lose interest in and watched it through without getting up 20 times. I have mixed feelings on the penalty issue. The thing is, everyone knew the rules... just follow them. Alonso, Russell, Max, Lando and some others all seemed to have only minimal impact so it was clearly doable. For me... it's on the drivers. They're paid millions, they're the best in the world... stay in the lines.

I think yesterday just speaks to the larger problem of not having big enough penalties for off track excursions. We've talked about this for years here.
