Horray! Although I think it would’ve looked better if they kept it in the same place. Something like this (pardon my exceptional drawing skills):

After analyzing V8, V10 & V12 and various single cylinder models - the V12 was not clearly the ideal F1 engine (it was a compromise with extra power at higher rpm’s, thirsty, lacked drivability vs competitors and packaging supposedly impacted both aerodynamics and chassis dynamics).

Obviously constantly shifting material bans and whining about potentially limiting rpms also had an impact on its perceived long term effectiveness.

In the end Renault was correct and the Ferrari V10 project team benefited from the work of the V12 & V8 teams. I personally believed that the still-born V8 with development had the potential to enjoy similar success as the V10, but the still-born V12 while magnificent would have been circuit challenged. Both the V12 & V8 project leaders ended up leaving (one did return years later) and the V8 project leader had success, really changing the way high speed engines were designed & thus developed.

One of LCDM greatness achievements was the willingness to payroll some of the world’s best engine designers at the same time - with no regard for nationality or configuration specialization. He was disappointed in the decision to move on from the V12 but it turned out ok with the “compromised V10”.

For me a V12 is the “proper Ferrari” engine but a Ferrari V6T does have some pedigree.

I see there have been a number of posts on social media recently. Calling for the return of the V10s so that the F1 noises and feel can return to that of the current lifeless engines.

I don't mind any engine that wins. But the V12 is the proper one. Best sound ever:

Actually, in 2000 Ferrari was working in a new V12 to replace the V10. I suppose they realized that with the technology available back then they could make a V12 with roughly the same size of a V10. Toyota was working in a V12 too.

FIA decided to ban anything with more than 10 cilinders to avoid a cost scalation. That pissed Toyota, they had to re-start from scratch and post-pone their entry one year; they even already had paid the entry fee.

The FIA have a lot to answer for.
I believe they made a rule changed in GT1 to stop the F50 GT and keep Ferrari Focused on the F1 world.

Typical F1 politics. Even without the ban further material restrictions would have likely killed both Toyota & Ferrari V12s. Similar to how the FIA handled beryllium & related alloys - millions down the toilet.

I recently discovered that ChatGPT does poetry...

In the realm of dreams, where chaos dares to dwell,
There stands a soul named Soleith, poised to excel.
Amidst the tumultuous seas of longing and desire,
He sets his sights on a Ferrari, a blazing fire.

A car of marvels, the F167's proud name,
Replacing the Superfast, igniting hearts aflame.
The world awaits, brimming with anticipation,
As Soleith charts his course, fueled by determination.

Through the stormy tempest, he steers his way,
With unwavering focus, he seizes the day.
For amidst the clamor, the race to possess,
Soleith's spirit shines, an unwavering finesse.

Through trials and tribulations, he'll navigate,
With perseverance as his compass, an unwavering trait.
With patience as his armor, he'll conquer the tide,
Guided by his dreams, he'll rise and stride.

The chaos may swirl, but he remains resolute,
Believing in the power of dreams to transmute.
A symphony of hope, echoing in his core,
Soleith embraces the challenge, seeking more.

For when the day dawns, and the F167 is unveiled,
Amidst the frenzy, his spirit shall not be veiled.
He'll find himself behind the wheel, a triumphant smile,
As the world bears witness to his passion, mile by mile.

In this tale of courage, amidst the clamor's art,
Soleith's journey inspires, igniting every heart.
For in the face of chaos, dreams shall find their way,
And Soleith shall conquer, come what may.

Its like why it can't draw hands and fingers because it doesn't understand them. Many humans can't either. When an AI is moved by the seduction of the V12 we are finished.

Wow! AI conquers FerrariChat with poetry! How prophetic! With Ferrari entering the electric age, haptic feedback etc we may soon be sitting at home enjoying a country drive in our V12 Ferrari producing no emissions but lots of sound.
For all I know I may already be doing exactly that while being trapped in the Matrix.
    How sad…
Huh… whoa… just woke up… must have been a bad dream.
Time for a drive in the GTS as hope springs eternal.[emoji4]

There is not much left to say, we must maintain the element of surprise:).
I will use Fioraventi's phrase "the courage of simplicity" !

I do hope you are right- simplicity is the path to great design. That does not mean it must be plain (a La Roma fell into that trap) - the opposite is true- it can be angular, curved or even straight but have surface and functional details which delight the eye and mind.
I just hope they make it lighter, reverse the current trend and eliminate any detail or item which serves no function in improving performance. My pet peeve- large design exhaust pipe tips which add weight- but do nothing but look huge- no sound or performance improvement.
    Less weight= more filling.

rumors say that huracan replacment will have V8 engine but turbos will start run over 7k rpm, red line aroud 10k rpm, impresive number for turbo engin but it's even possible? what would be benfits of this? no lag? better sound?

Off topic from the thread, but no really. Turbo flat-plane v8 sounds neutered so don't expect too much from that engine except for performance. Also if lamborghini would really switch to a V8 it might be suicide for their brand since they haven't really created a decent cohesive design since gallardo(pre- LP560) and murcielago years, and the car would sound terrible at the same time. They better think twice before using a turbo flat-plane v8 they might lose more customers in the process

what says inside informators: V10 is allready dead and new Huracan will have V8 turbo for 100%
NA engine with great sound was very important for Lambo and move to turbo is disaster, turbo Ferrari will be always better than turbo Lambo

Lambo should learn from Porsche mistakes, when Porsche put V4 turbo to boxter, sales drops and when they realize mistake, they decide to bring back NA 6 cylinders
