I'm not surprised hearing 2-4 years. Ferrari doesn't seem to make it a goal to meet demand. Instead, they maintain that sweet spot where demand remains high while supply remains limited. It keeps their 2nd market value higher and rewards brand loyalty. In return, they deliver outstanding design and very useable street performance. While the cars are also no slouch on track, they're far from track duty weapons. They know that people *think* they want track cars, but really want highly curated [touring car] driving experiences in their vehicles.

I'm curious: @IvanRico have you ever purchased a new car from your dealer or do you have the 296 on order with them? The lead-times are sometimes a function of salespeople keeping a fairly high bar for patience to see if people are worth the trouble. Given they know how unpredictable the arrival of build slots can be, their relationship with a customer ordering a new car can extend several years before they are rewarded with the sale. Combine that with today's generation of instant gratification career development, and it makes you think a bit.. the Ferrari sales people you meet likely have a reasonably high level of experience, maturity, and success.

Do you have an allocation or do you consider placing an order part of the deposit process

The paroxysm of ridicule, knowing that phase 2 will already be presented...
You have to be a neophyte in the automobile to wait 4 years for a 296...

Agreed - Ferrari has done an excellent job with cultivating demand for their vehicles and intentionally builds enough to make a business but not enough to satisfy demand.

This is my first new Ferrari purchase. I have a F355 that I tried to source through the dealer but they couldn't come up with one over 6 months and I ended up getting it through a specialist dealer. Am I getting the special treatment that someone with a dozen orders over 20 years might experience? Absolutely not. But everyone has to start somewhere and we'll see how well Ferrari handles things with new customers like me. Because as great is it is to sell cars a wealthy largely elderly population of existing customers, Ferrari knows they need new, younger customers or they'll diminish their brand as the next generation turns over wealth.

Stopping in and placing an order end of this week.
Noted 1-2 years IF someone ditch their allocation. Otherwise time is up to 3 years. In addition he noted all 296GTB allocations are spoken for since Sep 2022. But needs my order to be submitted asap!!
Will share more info later on...

Yep. I've seen policies change and access for new customers evolve over the years. Like you said, they do need new customers, so hoping you have a great customer journey with your dealer as you await your new car.

Late Oct/early November delivery estimate to Texas.
Currently Status 40. Had my name listed with the GM since January '21 when noise started about the hybrid model. Ordered an F8 in the interim.

Judging from my F8 experience, the car was status 40 in early March '22 and was on a boat in late April and delivered in late July.

Mine just went to Status 91 - Which usually means it "cleared" customs (not just arrived) and is awaiting final departure from the port.

It’s definitely been unusual with my 296 order. I gave my dealer a deposit a year ago and still don’t have an actual allocation. This will be my 7th new Ferrari. Haven’t even been asked to pick colors or options. I have lots of cars to enjoy, including a glorious F8, but I find their process a little ridiculous.

You should have picked the colors and options by now. Crazy how the dealer treats you if it has sold you all those cars.

I think things are very delayed for some reason on the factory side, even beyond the usual summer shutdown. I'm getting close to 2 years and just got word that I'm in the next allocation, with a January 2024 production start (I was 2 spots away). So I'm looking at 30 to 32 months order to delivery.

Admittedly, I'm getting a little itchy as I come up on 3 years and 30k miles with the F12. I want to keep the F12 still, but I've been looking at listings for GT3, Boxster Spyders or even McLaren 720S as something novel to try out.

Me too, I am going crazy waiting on my 296 ordered two years ago (although finally specced a year ago.) Thinking in the interim I should buy an F12 or 812 to scratch the itch. I really need to confirm that the 296 will be delivered in 1st quarter 2024d ealer is mum). If I knew that I would have to wait another year, I would pull the trigger on another F car.
