I have been an Fchat member for decades, and after a 308gt4, a 250 GTE, and now a Modena.....I am pining for, and able to get an F12. I have researched the options lists in this thread, scanned the ads, and I will create a WTB post soon, but I have a philosophical query first. A friend and a dealer (yeah, it is a thing) has a nice F12 for sale. It is priced OK, but the specs are not to my liking. Interior has the manual sport seats that feel as comfortable as Ikea MDF, the car is red with a weird black roof, and the interior is monochrome black, as charming as Darth Vader's boudoir. The car does have some warranty left and it is in great shape, and he might take my red/tan 1999 F1 360 in trade (although I might keep it, since another lift is on the way to my garage), but I am not getting that proverbial "tingle". Do I need to be more patient and wait for the right spec, or consider wrapping the car to get rid of the most objectionable aspect of this F12, the red/black combo? It kinda makes it look like a 1970s muscle "Cuda".... My dream would be a blue car, with a red and black interior (I am Eurotrash, so I like my objects colorful), front lift, carbon interior, and I do not care about the other options, including shields (always thought they were "too much", but I will live with them). Patience is my official development goal, NYE resolution, but I have also missed the boat when I had exercised too much of it. I guess prices are softening a bit compared to the Covid-era hysteria, so waiting might not be bad..... -Luke
My 2 cents is to wait. It sounds like you are not that in love with the car. Most wraps you can tell are wraps and you don't get as deep of a color. Plus the minute you close on this car your dream car will become available. Seems to always work that way.
Agree with 3POINT. It took me more than a year to find my F12 and TBH, shopping and finding my perfect car was half the fun.
When you’re spending that much money I would wait…..Even if you spend more on the end they’ll be zero regrets Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks for your counsel, everyone! Conveniently enough....I texted my dealer friend and the the red/black car just sold, literally this morning.
Settle for less and get the car with the specs you are not happy with ......... oh wait, I'm too late. Glad it was settled for you, I was really with everyone else.
Definitely wait. I almost settled multiple times in my search for a Scuderia but I recently bought the spec of my dreams and I’m so glad I waited.
Never wrap, always peelable paint. But also it might be an option if you all other aspects except the color, but you don’t seem to like the whole thing.
That is a very good point. Many years ago I had a casual friend who was GM at a Lexus dealership. He told me he would give me a great deal, turned out he was $2K more than several other Lexus dealerships. Some friend!
I'd wait if it's drastically off from what you're looking for. If it's mildly off make your best educated guess. It's not like you're buying a high volume car the exact spec you're looking for may not come any time soon and life's too short. Plus I stopped letting my ego get in front of car purchases. If I'm getting totally ripped off forget it. A couple thousand that I won't lose sleep over down the road I'm not going to sweat it if it's "the car." For me, I got everything I wanted but color and I wanted that Ferrari badge in yellow and the car in red. I grew to love the Grigio Silverstone car just looks classy and every Ferrari is red. I grew to love the carbon shielding rather than the traditional shield. Plus it was local sale, high mileage so nice price, and well spec everything carbon on interior including door, door sill, cupholder, etc. Couldn't really complain. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Lovely shade and photography. I have minders set on BAT, eBay, and a few other places.....To the patient belong the spoils!!!
I waited to buy the right FF. Like you I had a list of colours. Any Green (turned out there were two in the UK) any Blue or Grigio Titanio. Light interior. I ended up with Grigio Titanio over Sabbia and I love it. Would have prefered no shields but it seems to be a "must have" option in the UK. The comment I get most often about my car is the colour. Mostly about it not being red and it looking more sublte and far more classy. It seems to many people, even non car people, choosing a silver/grey Ferrari seems quite cool. Who knew?......
Agreed. Not a fan or red on the F12. I like a little more discretion, anyway. A two tone interior would be best (no reflection black on the top, and a contrasting color on the bottom to liven it up). The wheels are in motion on my end. My 360 will be consigned next week, but I can pull the trigger on the right F12, if one shows up!
