Many of Marcels latest photos posted appear to be taken in the USA. Is the Boano-looking car with the bulged rear fenders, hood scoop, and side vents a Super America, 410? The next array of photos show what appears to be Boano parked behind the car, which is parked next to a Maserati 3500 GT?

    Hi Matthias,
I came to the same conclusion.
The car should be an Opel Olympia model type 1951.
Which would ad up as Opel was/is based there.
    Kind regards

The Opel was also produced in 1950.

    Hi Manfred,
The only problem with the year is that this type of license plate (black on orange) is that they only have been issued 1946 and 1947. New cars from 1948 received the white on black plates and the old plates had to be changed 1949. So in my opinion that would rule out that the picture was taken 1950 or later.

When Dick Hahn traded 0794 TR to Bev Spencer in December 1963, Spencer fitted American magnesium wheels so that Frank Crane could race the car at Vacaville and Laguna Seca in 1964.

    0038 M photo with Serafini-Ascari (post 11897):
0038 M used different bonnets. When it first appeared it had no scoop or slots, then with a single carburettor engine there was a short, high carb scoop. When it used three Webers it had a flat bonnet with some slots in the front and later a long, low scoop. Then in 1951 the bonnet was shortened.

While we know some of the Bartoletti, etc large transporters existing and having been restored, I think it would be really cool if current owners of cars like these ^^ researched VIN’s of, located and acquired same exact tow cars used back in period by these privateer teams and I don’t mean just for display purposes, but actually used them to haul cars to historic racing events of today.
The actual trailers would be like icing on the cake, but finding them is likely impossible as many were probably “home-made” without official VIN’s, etc.
Talk about a chance for a unique “featured” class at Pebble Beach…

My Dad had a 65 Riviera Grand Sport, one of the coolest cars he owned. It got something like 8 mpg.
