That Man was from a different universe; still the greatest.

Jo Siffert at the Questor Grand Prix at Ontario Motor Speedway in 1971. F1 vs F5000. There will probably never be another event like it. I feel quite fortunate to have been there.

It was interesting that Mark Donohue in Penske's car was about the only F5000 to be mildly competitive with the F1 cars. I love this photo since it shows the very last vestiges of grooved tires before they went to pure slicks later in the season.

Over fifty years on, the story of Sir Jackie Stewart's win on the Nurburgring Nordschleife defies belief.
On the first weekend of August 1968, the Tyrrell-Matra driver added a unique chapter to the already powerful history of this exceptional race track when he won the German Grand Prix by four minutes.

Perhaps nitpicking, but the car was a Matra-Ford run by Matra International (as the Tyrrell Racing Organisation was named in 1968).

Not sure if that win was as impressive as the second place at the same race!

He looked Italian and sounded Italian (and the tifosi treated him like an Italian), but that white cross on his helmet showed he was proud of his heritage!

Mauro needs to raise the seat about a foot and put more air in the tires, especially the rear. :D

Jo Bonnier raced this BRM V12 powered McLaren M5A to sixth place in the 1968 Italian Grand Prix. And then he hung it on his living room wall.

The cars were slim and looked nice, being mostly devoid of advertising in those says ...

Jo Bonnier, one of the last gentlemen drivers. A different era (sigh) ...

1968 was the 1st year I believe advertising was allowed. That's when big money kind of ruined the Grand Prix.

Assuming he is 72" tall, the wheelbase is roughly 90"-92" !!
