By 'brake doughnuts' do you mean the rotors? If that is what you mean, I can tell you that they are obvious on the GTB as well as the GTO. The front brakes are HUGE and the rears are as large as most cars have on the front. BUT, the brakes are amazing when you drive the car so I have no complaints.

I am meaning the venting discs around the brake rotors. These were from the XX and not shared from the GTB. Agreed, the brakes are amazing and the multi downshift function is also very helpful on track.

As he says, Jacques is referring to the F1-derived wheel venting half-donuts which are unique to the 599 GTO and are derived from the 599XX, according to Ferrari SpA they increase aero efficiency and improve brake cooling, and quite honestly they speak to their intent for this car.

A unique GTO is ZFF70RDB000181880 trimmed with a Hermes interior.

Here's the car's amazing details which they billed as "reportedly the most expensive Tailor Made Ferrari ever commissioned" according to RM's writeup:

The development of this unique 599 GTO demonstrates the commitment of the original owner to create the ultimate example of the model. He was truly exacting in his requirements, and the finished product is testament to his eye for detail and the result of many hours spent pondering how to make his 599 GTO truly one of a kind in every way.

The exterior is finished in the very rare paint colour of Nero Stellato, a multi-layer black with metallic flakes designed to sparkle like the night sky, over a breath-taking interior fully trimmed in Poltrona Frau leather in Hermès’ trademark orange colour with diamond ‘losangatura’ quilting rather than the car’s standard and seemingly utilitarian Alcantara. Every surface possible is covered in the finest aniline leather, including the roof lining, and this attention to detail even carries through to the boot, also trimmed in the same leather with an embossed Cavallino emblem.

Reflecting this supreme attention to detail and pursuit of perfection, the original owner was not keen on the standard matte finish carbon fibre and commissioned all carbon fibre on the car to be completed in a gloss finish instead. This gloss carbon fibre was applied extensively throughout the design. Inside, the rear of the seats, door cards, door shuts, dashboard and centre console were all finished in carbon fibre, perfectly complimenting the elegant black contrasting stitching on the seats. Externally, the engine bay and the wing mirrors, fuel filler cap, rear diffuser and headlight buckets were all requested in gloss carbon fibre. The total cost of this extensive modification was a remarkable CHF 50,000. Alongside the all-important Scuderia shields fitted on the front wings, the car was ordered with 20” matte black ‘Challenge’ wheels and matte black grilles. The rear Cavallino and badging were also specially commissioned in matte black. Two particularly pleasing details are the brake callipers, which were finished in gold to contrast perfectly with the interior, and the black exhaust tips. Further options selected included the tinted ‘privacy’ rear windows, interior dedication plate made of solid silver reading ‘nec mundus duobus solibus potest regi’, as well as the GPS system, front and rear parking sensors, white tachometer and the Bose hi-fi stereo.

The car is accompanied by Ferrari Classiche certification, stating that it was born exactly as it appears today. Offered today from its first and only owner, the car has travelled just 3,750 km from new and has always been serviced by Ferrari. The car presents in excellent condition inside and out, no doubt thanks to always being parked in a climate-controlled garage. The present owner has extended the manufacturer warranty year on year since the car’s delivery, with the current warranty running until November 2018.

Importantly, this is the only 599 GTO to have ever left Maranello in this particular configuration thanks to the unique efforts of ‘Personalizzazioni & Atelier’. What is more, at its completion it was reportedly the most expensive ‘Tailor Made’ Ferrari ever commissioned, at a remarkable cost exceeding CHF 600,000. As such, it is arguably the most remarkable 599 GTO to come to market in recent memory, adding a unique touch of luxury to the brutish personality and performance of the 599 GTO, making for perhaps the perfect Ferrari grand tourer. Simply stated, this 599 GTO checks all the right boxes and would be a significant addition to any collection.

Another very apparent difference between the GTO and GTB are the front wings, based on my experience the ones on the GTO seem to be significantly more fragile than those on the GTB as far as I know there were no documented differences but washing the two cars it would seem the ones on the GTO may be lighter.

As far as weight-savings for the 599 GTO are concerned, an early article says:

Every effort went towards saving weight and replicating the 599 FXX’s extraordinary capabilities on the track, yet making the new 599 GTO genuinely usable on the highway. An impressive 100kg was shaved off the road car by the extensive use of all-new components such as a hydroformed exhaust that was ‘blown’ rather than stamped and welded, emitting as a result a glorious V12 sound. Thinner glass saved 5.5kg. Despite being wider than before, the forged wheels and titanium bolts saved 22kg, while Sabelt carbon fibre racing seats trimmed another 17kg. Accordingly, the more-powerful 599 GTO weighs 220 lb less than the standard GTB.

The special-order Blu Ghibli Cup Ferrari 599 GTO, striking with silver wheels whereas most GTOs came with either the grey wheels or black wheels.

The 599 GTO had either thin spoke or thick spoke wheels. My under standing is the later cars all had the thicker spokes. Hard to see, but I think mine are thick.

Not forgetting the carbon fibre boot which needs to be closed with a fair degree of determination!

Does this mean the thin-spoke wheels weigh less?

Excellent picture of the front-engined V12 GTOs you have on your garage wall sir.

    Yes
    BBS has thin spokes
    front 9,2 Kg
    rear 10,3 Kg
    AppTech has thick spokes
front about 10,4 Kg (as i remember right)
rear about 11,7 Kg (as i remember right)

I think Ferrari and BBS got a problem with their partnership, Ferrari changed to the AppTech GTO rim with the later cars.

As i know, there are no BBS rims on later Ferrari models also.
    Ferrari changed to these brands
some examples of forged rims :
    AppTech (TDF rim)
Super Alloy Taiwan (458 Speciale, 812 twisted, F12 forged)
    2Elle (Monza SP)

    Thanks for that information Daniel.

Correct me if I'm doing this wrong but the lightweight BBS wheels are lighter by:

    Fronts - 1.2 kilograms = 2.64 pounds each

    Rears - 1.4 kilograms = 3.08 pounds each

Therefore difference in weight between a set of the original BBS wheels and the later AppTech wheels is not insignificant. Less unsprung mass theoretically helps a car's suspension work more effectively, and a lighter wheel can assist dynamic acceleration and braking performance can improve. Also according to testing a combined 3 lb reduction per corner (wheel and tire) improves freeway MPG by 5%. All interesting stuff but I don't think most GTO owners can tell the difference or care about having one wheel or the other, they both look beautiful.

So the question is, why did AppTech not produce the exact same specification as BBS's units?

The difference in appearance between the BBS and Apptech wheels can be seen in this comparison.

The different experience in forging technology.
I would say BBS is the world leader in this technology.
The BBS wheel design was sold for many years as the FI rim from BBS
The successor from the FI rim is the FI-R, optimized, once again thinner and lighter, about 9,2 Kg for the 11,5x20 if i remember right.

Have searched for the exact weights of the AppTech, i took the weight before mine got tires.
    Weights are for 1 rim.
The BBS weights are theoretical weights from the factory drawing, i'm sure without paint.
    Apptech is my own weight.

    GTO from BBS F/R : 9,16 Kg / 10,325 Kg
    GTO from AppTech F/R : 10,97 Kg / 11,97 Kg (incl. TPMS)

    Excellent information.

BBS made the wheels for the 599XX, speaking of which, here's Ben S's 599XX, one I'm familiar with, his Giallo 599 GTO is the one I posted the sound recording of a page ago.
