Yeah, I think the stops are an integral part of the sport. I think the solution is to allow the teams to use whatever tire, however times they want, whenever they want, with the only requirement being one stop a race.

    I agree.

But even if a team wants to do a mad 4 stop race on the softests tyre...why not? Though I guess today with no refueling that strategy is unlike to really succeed.

No mandatory pit stop would be an improvement on the present situation.
For some teams, adopting a conservative pace on hard tyres and skipping on pit stops is their only chance to finish decently.
If they mimic the top teams, stop twice and lose 25 secs* each time, they stand no chance with their slower drivers.
Let's face it, even new soft tyres on the Haas, Sargeant, or the Alpha Tauri aren't going to make a lot of difference. :)

*I take it that a pit stop costs between 20 to 25 secs, even if the tyre change itself can be done in less than 2secs (Red Bull).

Laurent Rossi pushed aside and completely out of the team at Alpine by decision of Renault president Luca de Meo, great, Rossi is an egotistic jerk unsuited to F1 management.

He actually ended Prost's consultancy role a couple of years ago and Alain felt very insulted by how he did it, stating it was all about Rossi wanting all the limelight.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out:)!

Agreed, but I still think the greatest improvement would be giving the teams full freedom with minimal constraints when it comes to tires. There is excitement in the teams’ abilities to swap tires, double-stack, and bungle.

The team became much less appealing once Alain was out. You have to be some narcissist to not want somebody of his caliber on board. It would be like Toto telling Niki to take a hike!

Sam Collins said something very interesting on F1TV regarding Red Bull's upgrades

He thinks that Red Bull were extremely clever with the redesign of the radiators, as they dont use any wind tunnel allocation. He basically calls it a "free" upgrade.

He also thinks that the upgrade will be worth MORE than two tenths

Hopefully it doesn’t slow the car, I only say this to stay ahead of Mercedes. I’m enjoying their frustration

Definitely better rear traction coming out of corners with the extra tires.

Plus bespoke front wing allows shoveling rivals out of the way.
