If strakes make a comeback it’ll be in spite of that hideous thing, not because of it.

Strakes were always cool... Except on the SP3. I don't even know WTF that is all about - strake envy perhaps?

Sculpted ones that show a bit of airflow direction, sure... because F1 and wings and aero and purpose.
Strakes for style like on the new Daytona... I hope not

:) And we know why strakes disappeared with the 355.

Sure because they were a 80's styling que and they were looking to move to a new era. They may be back, everything old is new again, but there is a trend towards more roundish shapes however making strakes tricky except in strategic places like front brake ducts etc.

Yes it is after all why the new one is called the SP3, it is a direct homage to the P3. I like the Original better actually.

Of course, the P3 is very nearly the most beautiful car ever made.

Those curvy 60s speedracer type designs do nothing for me. Very cartoonish.

That new Daytona is interesting as a piece of abstract design, but I don't think it can be called beautiful.

I believe I read somewhere strakes were regulation to prevent something like an animal getting stuck.

Sort of. On the Testarossa they were a response to a TuV requirement that you couldn’t have a opening that big on a car, but they weren’t a pininfarina invention. They were in air already.

Take it easy on the 355 owners, bud. Their arm muscles have atrophied from using that power steering.
