I’m considering swapping the Pista for a Speciale. The spec won’t be as good as my Pista, but I have a TM SF90 AF Spider coming, and an 812GTS in the garage and figure the NA V8 will fit in nicely. Anyone done this? My Pista has an Inconel Novitec X pipe, and I’m planning to add the same to the Speciale.

I know a few who've done that swap. None regretted it. If you want the faster, more refined car, keep the Pista. If you want the rawer, more entertaining car, get the Speciale.

  7. In your situation, I'd rather have a Scud.

There's something I tell people: the only thing having a lot of money says about a person is that they have a lot of money. I've met a lot of rich people who were lazy, stupid, and/or unpleasant people. And a lot of not-rich people who were incredibly hard-working, smart, and genuinely good. No one is outclassing anyone. We're all just trying to live our lives.

I'll get off my hippy-dippy soapbox for now. :p

As far as the topic at hand, I have a 458 and love the NA V8. But if I had it, I'm not sure I could give up the power and the bonkers-yet-amazing looks of the Pista. :D

I’m not sure I’ll miss the power, since the sf will be much faster. The looks are the thing…had a 458 and the speciale fixed all of what I disliked about the Italia.

This…almost went this direction too. Still may. Scud was my favorite car before I had anything too exciting.

If you drive Scud then Speciale back to back, you'll forget Scud even exists. Especially because of the gearbox!

Cars have nothing to do with class. I didn’t mean for anything to come across inappropriately. Just wondering if I should grab an NA while I can still drive it.

I would keep the Pista; it's one of the best.

In my opinion Speciale is overpriced at the moment.

Not sure how you can go from a Pista to a Speciale. Who cares about N/A.

i did the opposite............and i couldn't be happier. but i can speak for what will make you happiest. good thing is with your means, at anytime you decide it was a mistake, you can fix it in a few days. poof! Pista back in the garage.

  19. I think the Scud is memorable because of the gearbox.

The kick in the butt (and back) every time you shift has an old school charm to it that today's dual clutch transmissions simply lack.

Call it clunky. Call it old. Call it jerky.

    Whatever.

    It has character.

You will never forget a shift in a Scud.

    Hence, why it is memorable.

The Pista has always ticked all of the boxes, including looks, design, driving characteristics, but one: sound engagement. I used to get out of the stock car and admire how good it is, then feel let down a bit by the sound. My whole world is about sound, my work, my hobbies, my obsession with cars. I put on the x pipe and it drastically improved the sound and gave the car a nice wail and tone, albeit in a more subtle fashion because of the turbos. I don’t track cars very often, and like them for what they make me feel, and always have. It’s not the Pista, it’s me. I crave the sound. Top down in the 812 just makes me want that v8 howl again. Maybe I can keep both for a bit, maybe I’ll do nothing and keep the Pista, but I feel like entertaining the idea sounds fun[emoji6]. Or maybe keep the Pista and get a scud….

I totally get you. Sound and feel is everything. Did you remove your cats and get a tune? You should. That will turn it into a fire breathing beast!

If I had the money issues you have, the SF90 wouldn't be on my list, no offense but that car is fugly. It's fast, but fugly in my opinion. I saw several at the national FCA event recently. No one paid attention to them. They were the fastest car there no doubt, but just meh......There was a lady there who owns 30 Ferrari's, including a 250 GTO, LaFerrari, LaFerrari Aperta, Enzo, 288 GTO and a tailor made Pista, which she chose to bring this year. It was spectacular! Dump the SF 90, keep the Pista and buy a Speciale Aperta. But I'm poor compared to you so do what you want and don't listen to me.

True, the jury is out on that one. Will have to see how it is. Was supposed to get here this month, but no shipping changes since April.
