OK...I ran a search but couldn't replicate this exact issue with the search although there are similar stories.

I had my 458 on a trickle for a few months of storage.

Upon visiting my baby recently I noticed my wire coming from the dash cable where it connects to the charging unit pulled away from the terminal, thus no charge.

Checked existing battery and its DOA. Wont even trickle any longer. Completely flat.

Bought a new battery and replaced.

Car cranks hard but no fire up. (Started and ran perfectly prior to dead battery.)

Called repair shop to set up the typical $450 diagnostic appointment but in this case I'm absolutely convinced that it's a 5 minute fix to get roadworthy again. Just feels like a "procedure" the car needs to go through to reset. If not that possibly a fuse that popped when the battery was installed (did see a slight arc when my screwdriver inadvertently hit the post to the frame).

Tried to lock/unlock the doors manually with the door keyhole as suggested to no luck. A friend suggested to disconnect the positive battery post for 30 minutes, reconnect, then insert and turn the key to the accessory position for 5 minutes then try to start again.

    HeLp!

What would you guys try at this point? What does this sound like?

My next step is calling AAA and having her towed in.

You didn't mention if you reconnected the wire to the trickle charger that was not connected? These cars are programmed not to start if the charger is plugged in. It may be that the car "thinks" that the battery trickle is still connected?

Hmmm…. I accidentally started mine while still plugged in a couple months ago— I realized quickly and turned it off but it did start [emoji848]

I have never attempted it. Not yet anyway. Its easy to forget that you have it plugged in sometimes. The idea of the no start was that you didn't inadvertently drive off with it plugged in and cause damage to a variety of things.

I've driven off with mine plugged in. No big deal as it's just a magnet on the bumper.

The 458 won't start with the tender plugged in. You get an error on the TFT screen and everything. I think the 488 / F8, all the cars with the external magnetic connector will start while plugged in. My wife's PFM definitely starts with the magnetic charger plugged in. The 458 tender port is in the passenger foot well and is much less convenient than the newer ones. I even tried with just an extension cable plugged in, but not connected to the CTEK 7002 and the physical cable was enough to prevent it starting.

If that's the case the left TFT should show that right?

The 458 charger gets plugged inside the passenger side through the window or door gaps and locks into place so hard to pull off without depressing the snap in part. 488 models are exterior and magnetic so they won't cause any damage if you drive off.
