Agree not here to judge. And if the car runs well and the engine is fine, none of those issues are immediately critical.
The traditional belt service should get done right away. But the cosmetics one can take their time…
Only fear is the unknown…. Elec gremlins, radiator, fuel tank, etc..

Real question ....what problems do early 456 GTs have that the Ms don't haveܲ? I much prefer the styling of the earlier GT and have yet to hear of a issue with them that did not carry over to the MGT?

Not really a list of "problems" for a GT versus an MGT... but more preferences for some of the options/styling of the MGT.

Personally I see the GT styling (interior and exterior) to be more appealing. And I don't particularly like Traction Control and have yet to have anyone articulate how the revised firing order is an "upgrade".....I will say though the keyless entry and OBD II would be "nice to haves".

Beyond that I don't know of any technical or operational issues with the GT version versus the MGT, they both can have the notchy 2nd gear issue, they both can have the valve guide issue, they both can have the window fitment issue, they both can have the "sticky buttons" issue, they both can have the headlight motor issue, they both can have the same electrical issues....and interior quality....I have seen GTs and MGTs with poorly aging leather, dash and package shelf shrinkage and delamination of door panel/roof leather........so beyond styling preferences they are the SAME automobile (other than there were many more GTs built than MGTs)

So..... I know I am being a bit sensitive but this same expression of concern gets knocked around in the Viper community with folks "deriding" earlier generations as "full of problems" and "massive technical improvements" in later generations where the differences are really very esoteric and more preference based.....I'll stand down from my soap box now!

5.2 and OBD2 are pluses. But the only other plus is memory seats… But really is anyone else going to drive the car! (although my wife drives manual and likes to drive nice car so she would drive it! Problem is she’s 5’-1” and I’m 6’-2”)

guys a friend of mine is on a FB 456 group; someone on the thread is offering 456 parts from a wrecked car, the whole car present in the advert. We touch base with the guy and he contacts me by text, then a call... but the voice kinda doesn't match the picture. But i'm no judge on that so I ask if I can go see the car since I only live 2.5 hrs away. He gives me an address in Sebring Fl....that doesn't exist!
anyone know anything about this? definitely suspicious...

that person’s profile looked shady AF…all generic photos with 1 maybe 2 likes…

    *EDIT*
I also just did a reverse image search of the photos and these were from Copart from 2021.

I asked about a part too... just wanted a current picture and date and im a buyer... crickets.

Ill see if i can get the mods to kick them out

On a different FB group you have to have your name and date on a card within the picture to show its a real part and current

Confirming that FB guy is a scammer - I've tried asking about several parts, and he says he will sell anything on the car for $250

ok @yudkib @Ferrari55whoa @Mirek if I aspire to be the next Mugello guy per my earlier comment about looking for an entry-level 456 manual, how much would I look to spend to get in the door on this one without being totally underwater on value? This is a valuation thread and auction price guess thread after all...

Trends are up, and amazingly, trends for sub-par cars have definitely been up, but look at history of 4 seat Ferraris, it will take a long time before they really take off. Especially if you have extensive reconditioning.

I'm a Verde Mugello owner, and the color is fantastic. I love my 456 as the car I desired for a long time prior to ownership, but I didnt get into mine for valuation going forward. What's your maintenance plan with The BaT car? DiY much of the mechanical repairs and enjoy it along the way or write a blank check and have someone fix everything?

For some of the secondary repairs, i think many of them can be handled by a new owner along the way for reasonable costs. (See my comment on the auction) for the overdue engine work, just plan and budget for the deep service. Cosmetics likely get pricey any way you do it.

I still see this car approaching 70k.

I agree with Aerosurfer, car will probably sell for close to $70k. It is a low mileage car and nothing it needs is all that scary. So if you can do most of the work yourself, it is probably a good buy, but if you plan to pay a shop to do everything, my guess is that you are better off paying more and buying a better car. Either way, good luck.

Well that got the 70k bump early!

But looking at the bidders history, he seems to just make trash bids with that number... may end up owning this one

69,420 looks like it might get cancelled by BaT

I’d plan to have someone who has wrenched on a lot of FCars do the major immediately so I can get it safely on the road. Then I’d start shaking down the car and doing the rest of the repairs myself. I can do the cosmetic stuff too.

It definitely feels like guys that have the time and skills to wrench/tinker can have a much better “456 experience” than guys that come in and just cut checks.

@gomezoscar It’s been eye watering watching/listening/learning the sums people have investing taking neglected 456’s to the place they want/need them to be.

If a guy has the dry powder and patience then “you only live once”.

Well I guess we were wrong about it selling for $70k as it’s already at $72,500.

Being in the market since the “before” times has definitely melted my brain, but throw $30-40k at it in the shop and it could certainly hit $120k on miles and owner count and color pairing. So not totally insane.

I think it was a good buy… might not take 40k but certainly 25k. I couldn’t believe the test drive! Like that belt could’ve snapped at any minute.
I don’t love the green but is rare, and the luggage was nice. I’m torn…a bit jealous, and bit shocked! congrats to the buyer!

but I’ll tell you what…the other green one in surf side, FL… mid 70’s is the right number. Virtual twin

Ok in the meantime, any of you guys who wants to try something else, we can swap for a 997.1 Turbo manual cabriolet with PPCB's, sport seats, and high miles...

I’ve debated reaching out to that seller because it seemed like that one was in better shape mechanically. Not quite?? The more recent car had a laundry list of issues mechanical and cosmetic.
