Ferrari F40 market analysis

Just over 1,000 miles.

 

That sale again cements the value of mileage, ,Barkaways F40 is a good car, with one owner from new.. at a good price. 100% premium for mileage .. right or wrong that is quite a premium.

 

That sale happened and that party is re-selling.

 

We're spoilt for choice of low-mileage F40s this year, Eu or USA, take your pick.

 

Sounds like this will be worth all the money. Problem is that it will never be seen again until it's sold next.

What's the context here? "Huzzah! It (finally) sold!" (?)

Announcing sales of F40s in the F40 market thread deserve some context for the more casual observers.

The GT Motorcars car has been for sale for over a year, and the DK car was nearly as long. Both extremely excellent examples (alliteration much?), but I'm not sure if the time to find new homes is exactly indicative of a red-hot market.

 

I guess the difference in speed of sales is how much the selling party has invested in the commodity, whatever it may be.

Long term owners will have paid in relative terms a much smaller amount, have no finance involved, enjoy simply looking at the car anyway and can just wait until the market comes to them for the sum they are holding out for.

Flippers however need to get them shifted to put the money into the next item asap.

Auctions traditionally used to be places to shift sticky or sub standard cars at trade prices, that has now changed due to the transparency of that market as a result of the internet and the belief that cars are an investment not an indulgence.

Once again I remind readers these graphs only show (by the compilers own acknowledgment) around 10% of overall F40 sales, so keep that in mind.

 

92396's sale is being celebrated by GT Motors Cars precisely because the market hasn't been red-hot in some time.

The context here is that it's an 8,600 miles F40.

That's just one aspect of how long it actually takes to sell an F40, it comes down to multiple factors.

Price being sought by the seller, how flexible he/she is, and wether the pool of potential buyers thinks the current market will bear that number as a fair reflection of current values, is often is the main factor that determines the length of a sale. The low miles F40 recently sold by DK in the USA illustrates this point as they held out for a very strong number so it took time to find someone willing to pay up.

The car's mileage is often a factor of how long a car takes to sell, the recently sold medium miles (8.6k miles) USA F40's sale by GT Motor Cars and the high-mileage (43k miles) Eu F40 formerly with DK and now with Barkaways and still unsold I think illustrates that point.

Then of course there's history, provenance, maintenance records, modifications, incidents/accidents/repairs etc to consider, and all those items influence how long it takes to sell an F40.

I don't know how they let that fly, however this F40 was delivered to Auto Gohm, Singen, Germany in July 1989.

Correct rear lower panel painted without black trim on vents for very early cars…. Looks great.

 

Correct for your 80715 too, which is not far off production of the Lovett 80759, sometimes people assume incorrectly that this means the rear valance has been repainted but on 80759 we thought most of the paint was original.

Speaking of early cars, the very early ones had no fog-lights in the rear valances, fog-lights were mounted in the rear screens instead.

1990 F40 sold at Mecum Monterey for 2.3m plus the juice. I know NOTHING about these cars like may on this post, but I gotta say if it's a decent car the new owner will look back on this purchase in 2-3 years and laugh...Seems to my naive eyes as a GREAT buy...
