nothing to add about Ferrari. Curious why Piastri dropped so far back towards the end. Simple as worn tires? Lewis closing on Perez in the final 10 laps was a surprise. Without RB's crazy fast pit stops he'd have been all over Perez's tail, assuming Perez was pushing which I assume he was, trying to catch Norris. Mercedes just can't seem to do a better stop than ~2.8 seconds, while RB and others are consistently ~2 seconds. Maybe the mechanics should slam a few Red Bulls before the start So while not the podium finish he was surely dreaming about, Lewis can't be too down on himself finishing 4th (further closing the gap to Alonso in 3rd for DC).
Loic Serra is a top tier guy. Glad Vasseur nabbed him, but more is needed. You have to build a team from the bottom up, not the bottom down. The lower tier engineers make up the core of a team, so it's good that lower Red Bull recruits are coming in. It's going to take a long time to rebuild their team. That's the reality.
It's fair to say that Ferrari doesn't look like a top team this year. Red Bull and Mercedes are top teams, and for the third spot it's between Aston Martin and McLaren now.
Charles has mistakes Stroll makes. Tosses races and in general underwhelms. Id take Norris or Piastri. Period. Charles is now a veteran with little to show for his 'amazing speed'. Let me find that crash photo from France. Charles is marginally faster than Sainz. So much for a pedigree lol. Future world champion at work - Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'm hopefully that the 23 car is such crap that's impossible to fix it. It's the prior bosses turd to polish. Bolt on some gaudy chrome spinners and just show up this year. Build something that works for 24. FFS they should have made every mistake possible by now.
In truth, Ferrari hasn't been very good since the testing ban. I suppose being able to run an extra 10,000 laps at Fiorano really did make a difference.
Ferrari was very good when everything was unlimited: testing, development, and mostly the budget !!! With all the limits now imposed, they are an ordinary team.
That's actually easy. It was called McLaren-Mercedes when they had Newey. Nothing stopped the English teams from buying a circuit anywhere and doing their own testing. Really, most of them did about as much testing as Ferrari, but the latter just simply had a better testing program, so they lobbied the FIA to cripple it. Worked like a charm.
Well, every team has its strengths and weakness. When Williams and McLaren had automakers backing them, they were the mightiest forces in F1. When that stopped and they became customer teams, they fell harder than a redwood tree.
I still don’t believe the free testing ban was the main reasons behind the Ferrari decadence after 2008. Todt-Brawn-Schumi departures were the beginning of the end in fact to my modest opinion.
LOL at Lando breaking Max trophy Max should’ve looked at Lando and said “no worries, I’ll get another one next week”
Wolff: Verstappen makes F1 rivals look 'like a field of F2 cars' Mercedes’ Toto Wolff reckons the pace of 2023 Hungarian Grand Prix winner Max Verstappen makes the rest of the Formula 1 grid look like “a field of Formula 2 cars”.
Most impressive thing is his ability to maintain a very very high pace without ANY kind of mistakes during a race. This on very different kind of tracks..
Now you know how it feels when MercedesAMGF1 blew away the competition from 2014 thru 2017. Karma is a ***** isn't it. Enjoy the rest of the year.
