The SF-23 is Binotto's car. This was his direction to take the team technically. I find it humorous that the same people that kept saying keep Binotto and give him a chance are now wanting Vasseur gone within less than a racing season. Ferrari's F1 operations have been a mess for over a decade. Domenicali ran the team into the ground, then it was handed over to an incompetent soccer coach and Binotto to burn what was left. Nobody is going to turn it around within a season.
This ! Vasseur is a competent guy. Rebuilding a strong team will take years. Really hope he will succeed in it ..
I'll repeat myself because I'm a broken record. Ferrari's pace was actually in league with McLaren and Mercedes for most of the race if you watched the lap times. The problem was the drivers didn't conserve their tires well, the team failed to execute orders for the faster driver behind, and Leclerc had another emotional meltdown behind the wheel and got caught speeding. Mercedes had a bouncing pimp car last year, and they extracted podiums and top 5's every weekend from it. Ferrari don't have near those problems with their car technically, but they can't execute a race weekend to save their lives, and I include the drivers in that.
True. I mention DRS because it allows current cars to run a higher downforce wing without as much as the trade off that they would have to make pre-DRS. DRS is available on the longest straights. Back then it was a real compromise...loads of wing and be fast in corners or no wing and destroy the straights... I also think an F2004 on todays tyres with proper set up, engine running full RPM and todays tyres is not something the current F1 regulation makers want to see.
I don't know which outlet claimed it but I read an article earlier this week and Ferrari seemed pretty positive on scoring a pole here and target a win...such is the google algorithm these days that I can't find it back or whoever wrote the article removed it already. It's also been a year since this statement: Ferrari: No reason we cannot win final 10 races of F1 2022 (motorsport.com) Haven't won a thing since that was said.
He wasn't the problem, but he outright refused to admit that Ferrari even had problems. I mean, the dude was delusional enough to think Ferrari could win the final 10 races of the season. At least with Vasseur they are trying to develop the car at the rate others are trying to develop theirs.

Ferrari needs to learn ''under promise and over deliver''. They've been doing it the other way round.
Are they though? They certainly didn’t last year and they brought one set of upgrades that showed improvement for one race, now they are back down to the bottom half of the top ten again. Merc, Aston, and now McLaren have out developed Ferrari over the course of this season. Though Aston has fallen off a bit as of late too.
lots of people left since then. Give him time. He's hiring the right people but it's not a quick progress. Gardening leave means many can't start until 2024 or some even 2025.
I remember 2 years ago Ferrari was strong then the FIA claimed they weren’t cheating but bending the rules I wonder what that issue really was since the infringement was never disclosed I am wondering how competitive they would be today if they weren’t sanctioned
Ferrari figured out the timing of the FIA supplied fuel flow sensor. By timing the fuel injectors to fire more fuel in between the time that the sensor wasn't measuring they had a significant power boost. Extremely clever stuff. Before that Ferrari was using oil as well to get a performance boost, hence the smoking Ferrari had at the time. This was banned (seemingly exclusively for Ferrari as Merc began using it after that...which is somewhat strange since they got it banned in the first place). Unfortunately, whilst Ferrari was clever enough to get extra power this way, seemingly they were complacent and didn't think of building a legal engine for when they were inevitably caught, so at least we'd have a powerful, legal engine to use when that moment came.
Do not agree, the car is frankly going nowhere, McLaren arrive from the back of the grid and suddenly have arguably the second fastest car. Ferrari are going backwards not forwards.
I don't think Ferrari "investors" are too worried about results, as long as they are still in the game. The aim for them is probably not to win at all cost, but to be constantly in the reports.
yes, but that's because half the technical team has been gone since Mattia left. We can't expect Vasseur to work miracles in such a short time period. He's starting to hire the right people, but many of them are on gardening leave so they can't start until at least next year. In the meantime, those teams with actual engineers working for them at the present moment, are developing their car and making it faster...that's natural. As Ferrari fans we will be absolute fools to expect anything significant until 2026 at least.
Yep Problem is they are more concerned about selling garbage electrified cars from 2026.. I fear the whole ship will sinking with this management..
