Well Lewis lap was great. Congrats Better for Russell to react promptly because Lewis remains a very tough driver to beat it seems..
Yeah, I mean, Russell did beat him last season, but Hamilton has bounced back and has shown that he can still outperform a top-rated young driver who is now pretty experienced in Formula 1, and today, he took pole. I don't care for how he conducts himself on and off the track, and I still rank Alonso higher as a more complete and clever talent, but there should be no doubt that Hamilton is a top-shelf driver.

37, 12, 8, 51, 35 seconds down on his teammate. Without checking it feels like the biggest average gap in the field. Maybe 2nd to Alonso-Stroll. The car is clearly the best by a wide margin, and Checo missed q3, what, 5x in a row? So compared to the field, he's not nowhere. Compared to Max, he's nowhere.
Sorry, I will never call 2nd in the championship "nowhere " but thanks for you input. I agree that RB may be the most dominant car in history, Perez missing that many q3s and still would win the championship if Max we're to no longer race.
I don't think all Perez' mis-performances in qualifs were only due to him. The team has its share of responsability too, for not managing him sensibly. They sent him out on wrong tyres at least once, then miscalculated the time left another time, there was trafic another time, etc ... It's difficult to recover from failing in Q1. Checo can drive, but not at Max' level. Shock, horror, I thought everybody knew that !!!
To lose 3 positions during a full race is car related. To lose 3 positions during the start is driver related.
Different mechanical and electronic incidences can hamper a good start: hydraulic pressure, clutch setting and gear selection.
Both mercs came alive at the end. I wonder what makes a good car flat then good in the same race? It has to be more than fuel load.
They said Lewis PU was overheating during the first stint. But not enough to justify this kind of difference in Pace. This is where the RB18-19 are so strong.. No weaknesses during the whole race ( full,empty etc ..)
