I have no doubts Max is much better than Checo, but he's not 1sec per lap faster.
Checo is a very good driver, and in the first 4 races there were times When Max pushed like crazy and was unable to close the gap to Sergio. Imo, marko and Horny screwd Perez Car for a couple of races and then Perez just colapsed because he believed he could take the fight to Max and had a rude awakening.

At the time there was even some people thinking Gasly could give Max a serious run for his money. How quickly that ended.

The only one that ****ed with his car was Perez himself.

Sorry, but taking my personal bias completely out of it, Perez completely ****ed himself in each and every one of those races. It's an easy excuse and brings a moment of comfort maybe, but apart from actually looking at what happened...what actual purpose does it serve Red Bull to purposely bring Perez totally out of the picture? Absolutely nothing.

Remember, early in the season they had reliability issues and there was (and is) every possibility that could happen during the race. What's the point intentionally having Perez start at the back? If Max retires you don't have Perez to take up the slack.

And it's not as if Max needs the help or psychological boost of beating Perez.

Bringing my personal bias back in it again a bit:

Max is simply the best driver in the field, and there's an argument to be made he's one of the very best the sport has ever seen. There's no real surprise that now that he has a great car, he's out there breaking all sorts of records. Today he equaled Michael in being the only 2 drivers to win 10 of the first 12 races. Equaled Alonso in positions winning a race from. 8 in a row, only Vettel and Ascari have done that.

We've seen what he's done time and time again in cars that definitely were not the best in the field or even near it. We've seen what he can do in challenging conditions. When was the last time he made a genuine mistake? Hungary last year? Still won. An unforced error? I genuinely can't remember without looking it up.

I've said it many times before, but I'll repeat it again: I wonder what this guy can do in a dominant car. Last 12 months have been very telling.

You said in the past that a dominant car is the reason a driver makes less mistakes, so why are you now praising Max for making less mistakes?

PLUS they didn't botch the stop, getting him out in front of Lewis. Amazing!

A track like that makes street circuits look like dog crap.
Almost like a 24hr race with so many different pit/tire strategies, changing weather, and overall win going to a car in a different class than the rest.
    Ferrari/LeClerc looked unusually strong!
In hindsight Piastri probably wishes he hung back into T1 just a bit, but clearly didn't expect Sainz to overbrake himself right next to Lewis, therefore crunching him into the Ferrari AND the wall.

Curious what happened to Sargent. He was running really well early on, in 9th or 10th, then came out of his first stop near the back. Tons of race left of course but I'm pulling for him to do well.

Hilarious to hear Max scolded on the radio.
He's absolutely pissed Lewis took fast lap :)

It has been said that the best driver ends up in the best car.
Or is it the best car that reveals the best driver ? We will never know.
Verstappen is definitely in a different league at the moment.

Checo's car IHMO is NOT the same. There is no way in hell that is remotely possible.

Look at it this way , if it isn’t the same , it is pretty damm close . Can’t be that far off cuz if that was the case , Marko wouldn’t be whining about Checco driiving poorly and needing to up his game . That is like shooting your self in the foot , you give your driver substandard equipment then complain that he sucks

Apart from some variations possible in settings, the cars are probably the same.
But the men at the wheel are not the same in their ability to exploit it fully; this is where the difference is.

Having Max as teammate is the most difficult job in Formula One right now.
Like it was with Schumi, Senna or Prost ..
You just have to ask Irvine Berger or Mansell on this particular topic.

There are times a driver must accept he is only #2 in the team; the sooner he does it, the better things go after that.

Yup. They let Perez win once or twice per year to make him happy. And this year RB car is so dominant that they don't even need a 2nd driver. So they sabotage Perez car most of the time just for lols.

A predictable race. Max easily wins in good weather, penalty or not as he has synch'd with the car unlike Perez.

Charles did well and had nice pace. Good support from the team.

Mercedes have a 'bouncing' issue per LH.

Ricci has to start beating Yuki to have any hope of finding a better seat at any team.

Put Charles in the #1 Redbull car and Put Max in the #16 Ferrari, does the Honda engine still beat the Ferrari engine or is there more to it?
