https://ferraris-online.com/cars/1998-ferrari-f355-6-speed-spider-110576/ In a spider, I like this at first glance. I didn't study the listing, mostly skimmed the video, but I think it's an attractive spec (titanium/black, manual, low miles, books/tools, fresh service, clean Carfax) for not a ton of money.
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1995-ferrari-f355-berlinetta-11/ $156k. Market has definitely softened. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
REALLY pretty example. Nice work @Tarek307 ! I wish my timing was better, or I might have taken a stab at it!
That car should have gone for more. I don't think enough people understand how expensive it is to get the valve guides done, and what it means to have a '95 GTB with that headache taken care of.
Yep people buying often first time have no clue or understanding. Those that really understand probably have one. Sinking money into making a carp perfect and expecting to get money back is a loosing proposition. It's why these cars on the open market are often in poor shape (often issues you can't see in pics), no one outside the die hard forum types like us maintains them because there is no ROI.
BAT average price for a manual 355 Berlinetta since 12/1/22 is $154,700 plus fees. Seems this one was in line with that.
Look close. Doesn't appear to be original, like this Not that it matters. Image Unavailable, Please Login .
That Swatters 95 is a beauty, but they could’ve at least wiped down the engine bay in anticipation of the auction. I don’t normally nitpick auction pics, but it really stands out to me. I’m guessing the RH engine cover panel is included, but was left off somehow for the pics.
Been for sale for a while. In Canada. So buyer will need to import it if in US. Nice car. Fuel distributor update not completed and, I believe, no monger available. Was at a different dealer initially. Listed for $199,999 CA, $150,940. Guess they want it gone. I have some serious questions about the car.
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1996-ferrari-f355-berlinetta-8/
Anyone want to guess what it will bring at auction?
Anyone want to guess what it will bring at auction?
I'll guess $172k, largely because of the color. Just noticed the seller posted they spent $3500 CAD at an auto spa last October on paint and ceramic coat; even more surprising then that they left the engine bay alone.
You may be correct, but if you know what you are looking at some serious question need to be answered. Could be nothing, or.... I wouldn't not bid on this car w/o a hands on inspection.
My guess is based mostly on a quick perusal of the pics and gut feeling; not a very measured calculation. Curious, what sort of questions do you have about the car? It may have been discussed earlier in the thread, pretty sure I recall seeing pics of it at the dealer in Canada some months back, but I haven't kept up.
Aside from the mess of an engine compartment, they still appear to be sticky parts, I pointed out before that the air bag seems to have been recovered. Maybe dash too? It's an odd car though. 2.7, fist registered in 8/96. Rear bumper is 5.2 style and has been painted (not necessarily a big deal, but raises a question). The other thing I noted that I have not seen before is that the front hood look questionable. The reason I say that is because typically when you open the front hood the exterior color wraps around the perimeter of the underside about 1/4" wide before the flat black so the edge looks body color. This hood doesn't have that. If you are sitting in the car you are going to see a black edge at the top of the hood, not blue. Again, could be nothing(?), but it raises a question in my mind. And there are other things. Just some red flags that I would need to examine. Image Unavailable, Please Login Bigger shot. \/ Image Unavailable, Please Login
The rear bumper is correct for Euro cars. All MY rear bumpers for euro cars look the same. It has been repainted though. I wouldn’t worry too much about the registration date. Things work a little differently in Europe.
What about the front hood? I know that in Europe they go by 1st registration. But it's also weird that the import plate say it's a 1997 model year. Of course, it's French. Just a lot of things here make me uncomfortable, not that I'm in the market. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Oddly enough, cars going thru Charles Pozzi have this type of discrepancy. Someone thought his car was a 99 MY because of this Charles Pozzi tag. Turns out it’s a 97 MY. The French are 2 years behind … . Hood is interesting.
Interesting about the hood, I hadn't specifically noticed that about the original hood paint (and I'm guessing all original body panel paint), that it wraps around, but it makes sense the factory does it that way. You'd think most manufacturers do; seller notes it's been painted, but indeed weird that whoever painted it left it like that. @ShineKen All Euro cars had a slotted rear bumper, even the 95s? Never knew that. Learn a thing or two every day.
Hi everyone. Hopefully this is the right area for this question but I’m trying to assess the value of 2 GTS cars, one of which I’ll hopefully end up purchasing. Both are black, 5.2 cars. One has under 20k miles on the clock and 3 owners. The second has 40k miles and 10 owners, so has certainly lived. The second, higher mileage car however comes with carbon seats and the fiorano handling pack from factory - and they’re asking $15k more. Certainly this second car is far rarer, but the higher mileage and owners is weighing on my mind. I also hear the GTS roof panel struggles to fit behind the carbon seats - I’m planning to take the car on a few decent length trips so a lot of journeys I make with the car I’ll want the roof with me, whether it’s off or on. Both cars have thorough main dealer/specialist service history and both cars are manuals. Any help is appreciated!
Where are you located? The second car is a euro car. I’ve seen it. I’d buy that one over the 20k mi car. Roof fits behind carbon seats no problem.
