Tell me more! Were you thinking temporary trade like car swapping just for fun? or permanent trade? Send some pics.
Guys - there is a stunning 456 in the Netherlands I found today. Black with red. 110,000km (~68k miles) According to the ad extensive work with receipts. Asking 69k euros… Very pretty car… https://www.gallery-aaldering.com/ferrari-456-gt-1994-2/ Thoughts?
There are a lot of potential buyers who have been talking about this car. It’s not the color pairing for me but seems like a nice car in a very European color offering. If you like it, I wouldn’t sit around. I don’t think it’s unfairly priced but it certainly is not cheap for a euro spec car.
When you say euro-spec car is that inferior? I like the no air-bag dash and love the no air-bag steering wheel. Are there other differences? (Other than km)
I believe there was added buttressing in the doors and possibly pillars, but that’s going back a long while so I can’t say for sure. Some of the turn signals perhaps. KM vs MPH. Air bags. Nothing major but things that add up. The USDM cars sell for a premium. That’s not saying the euro cars are worse and who doesn’t love the non-airbag steering wheel, but if you put two otherwise identical ‘95’s next to each other the US car will sell for more than the Euro car every time.
Hi, sure, in the US that is true. But here in EU it is the opposite, for almost all cars, US models fetch less. Even more so with older models. Many US models in the 1970's and 80´s had hideous side reflectors and "safety" numbers etc. My 1995 456GT is like an Euro model except that as it went to Japan (Cornes) when new, it has no airbag (Even in Europe Airbags were used from 1995 onwards, even if not compulsory in all markets) and it had RHD headlamps, steering is on the left, like I think almost all exotic cars sold new in Japan despite Japan being an RHD country. And the radio only goes up to 90MHz on the FM band. Cheers!
The black on red car Is pretty nice. He sent me a boat load of high res photos. Unfortunately; for me, there were just too many small flaws in the paint and leather that added up. If I see a bunch of little fingernail scrapes and blemishes in the leather I can’t live with it. But I’m still kinda tempted. Sounds like it’s good mechanically and the color combo is great.
you can fix paint and leather scrapes and nicks.... but they're not making any more 456's.... DO IT! If you don't... I might! (but then I'll have to find someone to take over mine!) My CDF with tan has both paint and leather blemishes. Soon it will go for re-upholstery and paint correction...
Yea I know…..DONT TEMPT ME! Im really holding out for blue on tan. I’m afraid I would have to see that one in person though. Even hi res photos don’t show everything. Paint I can fix but leather is harder to match and make perfect. I think this is the same car and has had a good life and owner in Europe. https://www.autogespot.com/spots?licenseplate=12GFBP
true about the matching leather....but new slightly off-color leather trumps dried and cracked and ripped leather. As I've eluded to before I certainly don't mind an up-to-date, improved, current bright and shiny classic! good luck in your search!!

Is that your garage and everything in there or its current location? Would love a tour of the rest of the collection if so!
That is.... not my garage! that's from where I most recently acquired the vehicle. it was on BaT in '17 though... My garage has... well... a few vehicles in it!! but nothing like that! https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1995-ferrari-456-gt-2/
This seems unfeasibly cheap https://www.gullwingmotorcars.com/1995-ferrari-456gt-c-4888.htm Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Salvage title. Gullwing gets some interesting stuff, and I’m not questioning how Peter makes his living, but they take in a good number of cars and only tune up / restore the ones where it’s profitable. The rest are usually wholesaled as is where is. Very possible it’s been sitting a while and needs the full Monty to get back on the road.
I’m looking at the pictures more and wondering if it’s a flood car or was parked outside for a very long time. There’s staining on both door rockers, which is exactly what I would be dealing with on my RX8 (in the same locations) if both rockers weren’t a cut and weld job already. There’s some other stuff too, like the dash appears to be recovered and wasn’t a great match, gas lid isn’t closing properly, missing valve covers, and photos with the windows down isn’t what 456 buyers are looking for. It’s certainly a tempting price though, but I’m not sure I have the stomach to deal with a flood damaged pre OBD car like this if that’s what totaled it.
agree. at best this might make a good parts car... I'm sure Gullwing is monitoring the thread but if you could somehow snag this car for say 30k you could probably make your money back while keeping the things you need or keeping big things for spares, like radiator, suspension bits, etc...
Getting a salvage title car over to rebuilt isn’t the easiest in NY, but where I am in CT it’s not at all for the faint of heart. In NY they check major systems and bodywork that were damaged or replaced, in CT it basically has to function as it left the factory whether accident related or not. Has to be trailered to and from multiple appointments; 3-4 month wait; absolute nightmare. I considered buying back my wife’s car from a salvage and was talked out of it by the yard operators. Oh, and OEM parts only. No CAPA’s or whatever they’re called.
