    Hi there!

im very new into the ownership of my first Ferrari, a GTS 6 speed manual.

I purchased it knowing it needed some TLC so have no one to blame but myself!

The car has a few issues, the main one is a misfire.

On idle I can hear it ever so slightly but this just may be the way these cars are. The misfire is definitely there at low rpm on acceleration. 1500rpm and accelerating in 2nd or 3rd gear, you can hear and feel the car misfiring. You can almost feel a rattle coming up from under the gearbox from the misfire. It’s probably worse as it’s wanting gearbox and engine mounts replacing. By 3000rpm the issue has resolved itself and not noticeable at all.

Does anyone have any ideas on what this could be?

A misfire could be caused by many different things. The condition of the ignition system is the first thing to check as you may have a bad coil, spark plug or ignition wire. If the ignition system checks out then you start looking at the fuel delivery system specifically for dirty fuel injectors.

Have you performed a compression and leak down test on the engine? You may have a cylinder that's down on compression.

Also get those collapsed engine and transmission mounts replaced as soon as possible too. New mounts will make a huge difference with the smoothness of the engine and drivetrain.

I would also suggest posting your questions in the 348/355 specific section where most of the guys with an F355 hang out.

Do yourself a big favor..before throwing money at this thing. Get a "health report' on the engine. Test the basics. Be sure you have good leak down numbers..specifically cylinder 2. I suppose you could also run a compression test..but leak down is better.

Do a fuel pressure check. These cars will rot the fuel pump isolators clogging the in tank screens.

You bought a nice looking car. Unfortunately the pain now begins..

Great advice. I hunger for more information on why cylinder number two. Why is it more susceptible to compression issues than other cylinders?

The valve guide material wears very quickly and in odd ways. Number 2 can be the worst and sometimes the first to show issues.

Mine did this and it was a bad spark plug. Water had gotten down one of the plug holes. Never resolved until I replaced the spark plug. It actually had a bit of rust on it. It was one of the plugs in the rear. Water got in, because the foam plug was missing on the end where the wires enter. I would recommend pulling and inspecting your plugs. Check that all the seals and foam plugs for the valve covers are present. If they are not, water ingress can be a problem when washing the car or driving in rain.

I was having the same thought; 1995 (pre-OBD2), Top comes off and a 3-pedal.
    Doesn't get any better.
If it were me I would meticulously take this car back to almost new since it is a great sample

    Congratulations Dan
