I agree but when you look back at some of the one off coach built Ferrari's much the same could be said, there are numerous examples, which at the time did not really fit in with the general look of Ferrari at that particular time.
I personally think it looks really nice, but not necessarily Ferrari... i believe its called the Ferrari KC23
You have to remember these are design exercises with customer input and as a 1 off... Many are intended to not look like a typical Ferrari. That's what the non 1 offs are for.
The F8 while nice looking could easily have a lotus badge on it. It looks like a car lotus would produce. The 812 in my opinion is one of the ugliest cars to come out of Ferrari in a long time. The f12 was much better looking and is partly why those cars have retained their value so well. I have customers asking me all the time for f12s and very very few asking for 812 coupes. The 812 gts somehow did make the design better.
The new Ferrari KC23, based on a 488 GT3 Evo 2020. Came out July 2023. First shown at Goodwood Festival of Speed. Marcel Massini
F8? Really? Really?!? I think the F8 is just a poor re-reiteration of the glorious 458 by Pininfarina, from the outside to the inside. Centro Stile Ferrari has really messed this car up and things started to escalate with the 458 Speciale, although Pininfarina was involved in the Speciale’s final look. With the Ferrari 458, Pininfarina made a bold statement in terms of design: LESS IS MORE. That's just my two cents.
FULLY disagree… the F8, for me, has finally fixed, corrected and improved every single terrible thing about the 458, inside and out. I had the same sentiments when the 430 came out, in that it fixed all the awful things about the 360. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
The F430 and F8 are so fantastic looking. The 458 leaves a lot to be desired when compared to those two. Of course, looks are the most subjective thing we have next to taste.
Interesting some of you think the F8 is ugly. I absolutely love it and I mean love it! The 458 I never found beautiful. The 360/430 look better and the 812 is for sure ugly compared to the F12. I also never thought the 599 was attractive either. Maybe a lot of us are getting older and just don’t like the new stuff. Looks are of course always subjective but would love to see a poll thread created ranking ugliest to most beautiful with only the relatively affordable F-cars no F40/50 and Enzo’s etc.
For sure I don't care for that either - blech - but in fairness it wasn't designed for Ferrari. I'd like to see what they would do for Ferrari today - they didn't always hit it out of the park, but obviously they do/did have a history of fantastic work with Ferrari. Maybe it's my 48-year old eyes, but I have about zero interest in what Ferrari has been doing design-wise, KC23 being the latest non-winner IMO. Maybe all the great car designs have been done. This bloated, futuristic crap is awful, regardless of what badge is on the nose.
This is only the second time I've EVER heard someone say the F8 wasn't absolutely gorgeous (and it might have been this same guy on this forum in another thread for all I know lol).... I'm sure that 'poll' would have MANY votes with F8 at or near the top for sure. I bought it solely because it's so beautiful and elegant... Had never even seen one in person until mine was delivered. First one I saw, touched and drove was my own.
Disclaimer! I may be mistaken, BUT…. I think Ferrari Design hired away a lot of the better PF designers when they started to break with PF back in circa 2010. So who is doing the design? A name on a corporate letterhead, or people? If its the talented people that harken back to the era many are fondly looking back upon, then, I think many of those are actually at Ferrari Design. The latest Pininfarina designs suggest- at least to me- that this is the correct state of things. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
The FF/Lusso? Are you serious? They are a complete rip off of the BMW MZ3. And even at that it wasn't all that great looking either..
F8 is the most boring Ferrari ever. Might aswell by a Toyota for all the excitement it doesn't give..
“Most boring Ferrari ever” is an asinine statement. Even though looks are subjective, there is nothing boring about its looks. It has plenty of aerodynamic and aggressive features about it, yet remains elegant and refined in parts. The 296 can be boring from angles and even the 458 is boring from angles. The F8? No way. Curious to hear your thoughts on the Pista… Edit: rereading your post, maybe you are talking about performance. Still, I would say that isn’t true
It’s all subjective, of course… there are some highlights though for sure I think the 488 Pista is fantastic looking and better than the F8, 296, and SF90 Also as others have mentioned, I think the F12 is fantastic looking and the 812 was a try-too-hard evolution of it. And I think the SP3 Daytona looks great too… better than the LaFerrari… if the SP3 had a bit more traditional headlights and taillights (like Jim’s P4/5) + a gated stick shift, it would be my ‘perfect’ car. And the Roma I think is beautiful too…. Better than the California’s and Portofino Haven’t seen a Purosangue yet… but as a 2+2 I can see it working better than the FF / GT4-C / 612s which are just so long
The GTC4Lusso, yes. I like shooting brakes. I think they are exotic and interesting. The GTC4Lusso stands out amongst the crowd of two-seaters. If you want to pay for it, I'll drive something you approve of instead.
The problem with the F8..is they made it too good. It's just another fast car on the market..there is nothing that separates from the rest. All these new cars drive the same. Video games with wheels. They are absoulty boring anything below 3 digit speeds. Even the looks of the car are kinda meh..nothing really engaging about it. Nice car..but GM could have built.
Last nice looking Ferrari's for me were the 550 and 360. Nice clean lines on both and no fussy / over designed details one sees on later cars.
