    Hello, first post:

With all the waiting lists, for new Ferrari models, I was wondering if there was a way to circumnavigate/buy into these lists?

No doubt some customers, who have paid deposits and are on waiting lists, may have a change of heart, and want out. I don’t know how that leaves them deposit-wise. Whether they lose it all, or whatever?

So instead, it might be to their advantage, if someone else takes over their allocation. They still see their order through to the collection day, in appliance with Ferraris protocol, to save having their deposit compromised/swiped, but with a financial agreement already in place, to swap ownership at that point.

Does this happen? Are there intermediary type brokers out there, whose objective is to match people with particular specced car orders, on waiting lists, with people who want to cue jump?

I'm in the UK, if that makes any odds.

Some models are actually oversold, so when one buyer drops out the spot goes to another deposit already in queue.

You can't deal in spots themselves as some brands do, but when someone withdraws their deposit the dealer does not want to lose that production spot (and car sale), and will reach out to other known customers to pick up the car. Worst case scenario the dealer keeps the car moving themselves and then will resell it when it lands.

Go to your dealer, become acquainted, discuss availability and see if they have a list you can get on.

The best move is to tell them what you want. Then buy a used car from them and keep reminding them what you want. I had 2 spots open up for new cars using this strategy.

Also. You can’t sell your spot on line. You sign an agreement saying that if you back out you may not get your deposit back until the dealer delivers the car to someone else.

You buy into the list by paying over sticker for a few current or previous model year cars at the same dealership (or a couple of the less competitive models).

When someone backs out of a car, it either goes to the next person down the list that hasn't had their order entered yet, a VIP they wanted to squeeze in, or sold for max profit

I could be wrong, but I don't think FNA allows paying over sticker. That said, you can buy a car at sticker, drive it few miles and then sell it through the dealership for over sticker.

Sorta. FNA doesn’t technically allow paying over sticker but it doesn’t stop unscrupulous dealers from getting extra money out of clients even if they have a slot for a car if it’s difficult to get. Additionally dealers have been pushing the “heads I win tails you lose” agreement lately that says if a car sells they get right to it at MSRP so they’d get any upside over sticker and of course you’d get all of the loss if it happened to go down in value during your ownership. Such a deal!

If you’re a new customer.. buying a pre-owned car is usually enough to get you an allocation to order a new one.. good news is that when the new one comes in, the one you bought before probably held its value pretty well to trade in.

As JAM1 said, it still happens even if it isn't as overt as the old days. I personally don't hold Ferrari to a different standard than how anything else works, so iiwii. You gotta pay to play in the big leagues and we all believe in the market, right? Lol
