Well it isn't supposed be a GTO. It is a specific car Ferrari built years before the GTO but it featured the roof in a contrast color well before the GTO showed up with the same design idea.
I had a small role when 599 GTOs were presented at Pebble Beach for the 1st time in the USA @ 13 years ago, by supplying the heritage car, 288 GTO 56343. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
@ DK Engineering, the GTO is beautiful in most colors, blue especially so. Image Unavailable, Please Login

Very cool, just yesterday I came to understand that a prominent East Coast USA Supercar collector has two cars for himself, one red, one yellow, both with stripes. Here below is an interesting pair, I don't know these cars but they look like genuine 599 GTOs from this angle, the blue car is sporting 599XX door mirrors. Image Unavailable, Please Login
599XX door mirrors look cool but if you use them you'd have reduced scope of vision compared with GTO mirrors, as the mirror size is smaller. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
And they don’t fold. Most of the XX kit Is not homologised for road use. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
I have wondered about the XX kit, looks very nice on the car but apparently one set up is for high speed tracks and another for low speed tracks. I wonder what tangible difference there is between the two in terms of driving.
Thought it might have been the case. They look great though probably not road legal as they don’t fold… not many pedestrians on a race track!
So I personally inspected this 599 GTO with the factory Corse Clienti 599XX Aero package just last month at DK Engineering in Chorleywood, UK. According to DK Engineering: "When the 599 XX was upgraded to Evo specification at the tail end of 2011, the remaining parts were offered to select clientele and members of Ferrari’s exclusive Corse Clienti program only as an upgrade for the 599 GTO through Ferrari Genuine, their post-build parts catalogue. It’s first owner, a collector based in Tokyo, jumped at the opportunity to have the full package fitted to the car. Whilst this GTO is accompanied by its original panels, it was delivered to its first keeper in 2012 with the complete package already fitted prior to delivery. It is important to note that fewer than 25 examples of this package are understood to be fitted to 599 GTOs." At one stage this kit was being offered to GTO owners, What is interesting is for a time GTO owners could order elements of this package for their cars, though I agree its exceptionally rare for one to be delivered with the entire pack installed.
An Austrian in Monaco, perhaps on the way down he took the loop up to the Nurburgring because I see a roll-cage in there... Agreed, the fact that this car had the kit installed at point of production is very cool, approved by no less than LDM! The factory had a formal brochure for the Corse Clienti 599XX kit which I have posted early in this thread. According to a source, they were initially intended to be offered to clients who purchased both the 599XX and the 599GTO, with the kit being a tribute to the connection between the two cars and is a simplified /modified variant of some of the XX pieces. FWIW my understanding is Michelotto were involved and in fact they did supply some kits post-production which were then affixed to some cars such as the Nero 599 GTO 175276 in California.
