The Roma is indeed good looking, even if I do have some reservations about the front grid and the headlights; but overall, nice.

I agree, I always thought that the punishment was somewhat unfair, and that Max Mosley used it to settle a personal grudge against Ron Dennis.

The great aircraft designer "Ed" Heinemann advocated the same principle in the fifties "Simplify, and then add only lightness" .
"The best aircraft is the smallest airframe possible built around the most powerful engine available".
His "ten principles of project management" are still valid today.

Agreed; being fast, or even blindingly fast, is one thing, but only part of the whole picture; the rest of the recipe is inside the brain. In regard of this, I'm still not sure (Happy to be proven wrong...).
Carlos Sainz might not be as talented or as fast, but in terms of results, he is actually not very far of the faster, and more talented, Leclerc.

Apparently Mosley said to Ron something among the lines of ''exclusion from the championship is the sporting penalty, the 100 million fine is for you being a ...."

What Mclaren did was 100% wrong and the only reason they didn't get removed from F1 completely for a year or two (as that's what was being discussed as a punishment), was because F1 really needed a good battle up front and to remove the team with a double world champion in there and an exciting British racer, to then not give Ferrari any competition on top of all that so shortly after the Ferrari domination could actually kill the sport, which I agree with.

There was definitely a clash of personality between these 2, dating from the time when Mosley was one of the directors of MARCH, and Dennis had taken over McLaren. At the head of the FIA, Mosley used his position and tried to annihilate Dennis.
It was rumoured that Ron Dennis later orchestrated the downfall of Mosley by revealing to the media some aspects of Mosley's private life.
That created a scandal when Mosley's sado-masochist tastes became public, leading him to sue one of the tabloids.
Revenge tastes better when served cold.

Really? take another look at last year championship, without Binotto&Company stupidity the diference between them would be more than 100 points by the end of the year.....that looks very far off to me!

"And if my aunt got some, then she would be my uncle" ("Et si ma Tante en avait, elle serait mon oncle" Old french saying, meaning "if things had been different, well they would have been different; but they were not")
I'm not living in a world of what might have been, what could have been, etc...I DON'T CARE about that. I pay only attention to the results, to the actual results.
Up to this day, Charles is a huge disappointment: another Jean Alesi, a fast idiot. The BRAIN is the key, not the talent. A lot of people can go fast. But succeding in being a Champion is entirely another matter. And I'm not convinced about Charles. Less and less, as the years pass by.
The difference could have been more than 100 points, BUT IT WAS NOT. And that's all that matters: Sainz is much more cost-effective.

I honestly don't know what some of you are expecting out of Leclerc.

Don't get me wrong, some people overrate him totally, but he's gotten some unfair criticism. Sainz got the same crap last year from people every time he made the smallest mistake, and I didn't care for that either.

Truth is, no driver is going to win more races in the current Ferrari's than Leclerc and Sainz have. No doubt a few slipped out of their hands last year at Hungary and Monaco, but people expecting any driver to make up the 1+ second race pace gap to the Red Bull is delusional. It's not going to happen. Hamilton can't even touch Max right now, and that should tell everybody something.

Now, Leclerc has shown immaturity in his driving. Part of that is the pressure of people expecting him to perform miracles I think. Vettel fell down that same hole, and even Alonso felt the Ferrari pressure a time or two. Another part component to Leclerc's immaturity seems to be that his side of the garage appears far more chaotic during the races, especially when it comes to strategy and problem solving by his race engineers.

If Ferrari mature and execute their race weekends like Red Bull and Mercedes do, there will be a trickle down effect to both drivers.

No he's not, sainz is useless, and if one day Ferrari has a car capable of matching the oposition, good luck on sainz Beating the other guy! Take the points and wins from Charles, and let's see were Ferrari is in the championship, and how much money it will cost them.
You talk about reality? reality is that Binotto and his friends costed Charles the win in Monaco, Silverstone, Hungary...and two more races with broken engines he would have easily won. This is the reality. I don't care about stats, i care about facts. If you put Stroll in a car as good as Max, Max will finish ahead by at least half a lap in every single race, now if you give Max an engine that will break half of the races, Stroll will have more points by the end of the year. What does that tell you? That Stroll is the better driver? Let's be real, and let's be honest. Right now, in equaly competitive cars, the only driver i saw capable of fighting Max is Charles, this is the reality, like it or not.

So Leclerc is just a fast idiot because his team ****ed him and his car let him down multiple times. Stats without any context whatsoever. Got it.

This completely, minus Sainz being useless. He's a solid driver, just not as good as Leclerc.

Yes, he's a good driver, not that solid in my opinion, but totaly unable to dispute a championship, just like Bottas for example, that's what i meant, you can have him as a driver to earn points, but not to contest for first place...

Thanks mate. I really didn't know, or probably can't remember the first portion. I only knew, more less, when Alonso started to threaten him.

However, I do think USD 100 mil is extremely overboard, and i'm surprised Mclaren didn't appeal this.

I seem to recall, that Max Mosley himself quoted that the fine was something personal against Ron. I have no idea why this was not brought into the court of appeal as an evidence or somewhat.

I expected him to mature, and I don't see this. We all know here, as you are alluding, that leading the Scuderia is not for the faint-hearted, and that you need to be more than a fast driver: Niki was not the fastest driver of the day in 1974 to 1977, but he had an iron will and knew exactly what he wanted. Schumacher was fast, but he also had an iron will and determination. Prost almost succeded in 1990, whereas Mansell, who was somewhat faster never approached the same level at Ferrari.
In other terms, you make your own luck. If it doesn't work, well, perhaps you are not made of the right steel?
Make no mistake, the boots of the Ferrari team leader are mighty large.
I expected Leclerc to be able to fill these, to carry the team towards the only success that would be satisfying, a title. He might have excuses, but more and more I don't believe him to be strong enough to make his own luck.
In other words, not made of the same steel as Niki was. I don't see much difference between the Leclerc of today and the Leclerc of 2019.

I don't think he has what it takes to be the Ferrari team leader. Which, admittedly, is not for the faint hearted. I don't see any maturing, or difference between the Leclerc of 2023 and the Leclerc of 2019. That was five years ago. He has not blossomed as Max had: there is a big difference between the Max of 2017 and the Max of 2022.

Come on Pedro, here you are completely contradicting yourself: you say you care only about facts, and then, instead of talking facts, you speculate! Unless something had actually happened, it is not a fact: it is not proven.

What I expected from Leclerc was to grow into a Ferrari team leader, and to be able to make his own luck. This team is not for the faint hearted; it has never been. Ferrari has had many fast drivers in the past, but only a small number were able to fight for the Cjhampionship, or to win it.
I'm afraid Leclerc does not have what it takes to carry the team on his shoulders as Niki did, as Schumacher did, as Prost almost did.
I don't see in him much difference between the Leclerc of 2019 and the one of today. That was five years ago; time flies.

Well, his leadership abilities are another conversation. I don't know what goes on behind closed doors at Ferrari. Verstappen is currently the best driver in Formula 1, so that's a pretty high standard to hold him to.

I don't think that without these leadership abilities, a driver can succeed (= competiting for the title) at Ferrari. That was the step I was expecting him to climb.
The only exception to the rule (Surtees, Lauda, Scheckter, Prost, Schumacher, Alonso...were strong leaders) that comes to mind was Kimi. But Kimi is...well, Kimi.
