The mirrors were never part of the kit. The XX owners had access to them because of their involvement in the programme. As far as I am aware they are not homologated for road use. Apart from that the kit was available to any GTO owner through Ferrari genuine……..but agreed rare to be fitted by the factory and this would have only been possible for the very late cars.
Indeed the DK Engineering car wasn't delivered till 2012. Michelotto supplied the kit for 175276 in the USA, I bet they supplied the mirrors for the blue 599 GTO I posted.
Here's 599 GTO n° ZEF70RCA4B0179235 in Vinaccia with gold wheels (original?), I believe formerly owned by Hollywood Director Michael Mann who has a new movie coming out in September of this year on Ferrari www.caranddriver.com Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Maybe I'm confusing 179235 with another GTO, or Mann had 2 GTOs, but I'm sure I read somewhere a long time ago that he had a Rosso 599 GTO, anyway, the Vernaccia car seems to have caught the imagination as a number of scale model companies have made models of it. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here's ZFF70RCA3B0176598 finished in Blu Scozia as presented for sale by Miller Motorcars not too long ago, I believe it resides in a collection of Italian cars today. Image Unavailable, Please Login
ZFF70RCA2B0178102 is another lovely non-metallic Bianco 599 GTO also with body-colored roof. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Factory literature suggests that the 599 GTO comes with the Schedoni Cleaning kit (9) amongst it's ancillaries, anyone know if this was only for European cars? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Beautiful Andorra-registered 599 GTO on a Ferrari event across the Alps. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The rare body-colored roof scenario doesn't apply here because if you look closely, you will see that it has the livery (visible on the roof, boot and the mirror). All the stripe livery cars theoretically have a body-colored roof.
Joe - what do you know about this car? I'm told it has an interesting story... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
As an English journalist once said: "Retina Bruising" Here's something different, dark red with a white roof. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The car has a silver roof, not white (hard to tell on those pics). It has been for sale at Amian literally for years at a low-ish price and now she's at EUR 1.150.000.-. Funny how tastes & opinions change over time. I didn't find it particularly pretty either 5-6 years ago and now I'm dying to buy it, paint the wheels & calipers silver at Zanasi and slap some silver centercaps on Not at 1.15m though! With that said - I think we can all agree in saying that that's the only direction these cars should go!
Sorry but GCC spec cars have a "T" VIN n°, "B" is only Continental Europe and #176787 travelled a lot since Scottsdale auction ! it even was in Monaco few days ago with a new colour
Absolutely correct I'm actually being a bit cheeky Joe, it's not a real GTO - but I have no doubt you realised instantly. The short version - a 599 replica was sold to a UK dealer as a GTO. They swapped a 675LT Spider and £35,000 in exchange. They realised very quickly it was a replica and it went to court. Seller was subsequently made to pay damages... Here's a good article summarising: Motorist ordered to pay damages to dealership after misrepresenting Ferrari 599 GTB as much rarer GTO – Car Dealer Magazine And here is the full court findings: Scuderia Prestige Automobile Ltd v Malik | [2021] EWHC 2744 (Ch) | England and Wales High Court (Chancery Division) | Judgment | Law | CaseMine So of tangential interest to the thread, but I thought it may be of interest nonetheless Car is now for sale as a GTB: 2007 White Ferrari 599 6.0 V12 GTB Fiorano F1 Euro 4 2dr for sale for £105,000 in ANDOVER, Hampshire (autotrader.co.uk)
I am even more puzzled by the seller's story that the car was new in Moscow than in Dubai then in UK. That car has a Japanese VIN number and came to UK in 2013 !!!!!
