Agreed - not a good look when a simple glance at the interior would have raised all sorts of questions.

For what it's worth this happened at the start of the pandemic when travel was very restricted in the UK - I don't believe they did a physical inspection until they received the car, they pretty much immediately figured it out...

Even so, we all picked it up from the pictures immediately...so should they

Thanks for joining us and sharing your excellent 599 GTO Registry with me privately, that's a labor of love right there, Bravo!

Let's use this thread as a means of identifying the individual cars and hopefully try to find some of the missing ones, we know Ferrari SpA originally planned to make 599 GTOs but how do you turn down Royalty, F1 drivers, and all manner of assorted VIPs who've asked for extra cars especially when they are loyal customers? I'm sure GTO owners don't care too much how many where actually made, they only care that they have one!

Anyway, along those lines, here is ZFF70RCA4B0177176 which my colleague Graham Rahal recently sold with 2,800 miles. Delivered by Ferrari of Newport Beach, California, this GTO is finished in white with a red stripe over black cloth and Alcantara upholstery, black 20” wheels, carbon-fiber headlight buckets and sill plates, and Scuderia fender shields.

By the way, all the USA cars I have seen have a 2011 Certificate of Authenticity and Red Book from Ferrari Classiche done at point of manufacture.

I can confirm that there is no cleaning kit in the GTOs sold in South Africa. As an aside has anyone retrofitted factory harnesses to a GTO?

Thanks for checking that, I have never seen any Schedoni cleaning kits in any 599 GTOs however I won't be surprised to see one someday.

You can retrofit harnesses to either the sport seats or the adjustable seats as shown below on 178519, ditto the roll cage.

Joe, do you confirm that both harnesses and roll cage can be retrofitted in a gto?

That’s interesting as I are quietly looking at gtos and more interested in harnesses + roll cage options.

If this can be retrofitted, then it makes the hunt easier.

Of course, on the one hand, if retrofitted, it will not be a factory option. But on the other hand, I guess having both the retrofitted harness and a standard safety belt (easier to live with on a regular use) gives us the best of both world.

Pretty sure you cannot have both the harness and the regular 3 points seatbelt on the same seat anchor points. Also the harness need to go through 4 holes at the back of the seat and if you don’t have those you will need bespoke trimming. Finally the roll cage necessitates a specific luggage shelf. Again if you don’t have the option, trimming might be necessary.

Jacques, yes you can add the roll cage and harnesses, others have done this.

Depending on your resources, your Ferrari dealer may be able to help you source Ferrari components either from Italy or in the aftermarket, for example www.hemmings.com

You can have both standard seatbelts and harnesses because the anchor points are different.

The rear shelf with apertures that allow the harness to be anchored on the back can be sourced, or relatively easily manufactured by a good upholsterer in which case you are correct, bespoke trimming applies, that said it's a relatively simple application.

The difference in rear shelving is illustrated below, you can still stow some luggage even with harness fitment.

Thank you for your explanation. It seems like a reversible setup is possible with a modified shelf and the original one aside. Very tempting.

the anchor point I am referring to are the one on the seat. If you want to use both the harness and the 3 point seat belt you will have to attach them both to the left and right anchor points. I suppose that might be possible (though not ideal IMO) if you use double spacers (to allow for movement and adjustment) and if there is space enough (2x 5 mm + the thickness of the harness plate and 3 points belt). Not sure how safe that might be as most of the bolt will be out as there isn’t any space in to allow for the seat to lower to the max …

there are definitely 599 GTO that are equiped with both 3 points seatbelts and 4 point harness, though, I don't know if it's from factory or not.

It is definitely not a factory option. I asked several times at the Taylor made and Atelier departments and the answer was a clear NO WAY.

That’s too bad as it would be simple to have homologated regular safety belts and optional harnesses hidden behind the back seats ready to be used, only on track.

I have that as factory options in my Donkervoort and Jaguar project seven, proving that it is possible.

According to our local dealer they can possibly be retrofitted, the harnesses. I am waiting on an approximate costing. I have also been offered the XX kit on various occasions in the last few years. Even more interesting the local dealer had stock of GTO wheels, the silver ones!

There must be some regulation in existence in 2010 which prevented Ferrari from optioning the cars thus, but don't let that stop you now!

This is how Dodge appeased the DOT in the U.S. to permit harnesses in production Viper ACR ...

Forgot to post this earlier: first owners of a 599 GTO were presented with a bronze model of the car.

Accompanying the model is a nicely packaged CD titled "The making of the sculpture", I'm not sure if these were given to all people who ordered a car or what, but these are cool to see, I note that many cars are sold without these items.

I have a similar sculpture that the dealer gave me when I bought my GTB, I don't have a CD. I bought it used and they sent the sculpture with the car. I will take a photo and post it tomorrow.

Here is a photo of my 599 sculpture. The bottom says 599 GTB, so they must have made them for the GTB as well. It has a HGTE grill but generally doesn't appear as detailed as the GTO. It is in a red box similar to the one above, but it doesn't have the pedestal inside the box and the box is about 2.5" tall (accounting for no pedestal).

    ZFF70RDC000181050 is a right-hand drive UK-market example fitted with 4-point harnesses.

I imagine the regular seat-belts were swapped for the harnesses by the UK dealer.

Delivered on the 28th of June 2011 finished in Rosso Corsa with Nero roof and Grigio alloy wheels - the launch livery. The interior has an Alcantara-trimmed roll cage and 4-point safety harnesses, and is upholstered in beige leather with black inserts.
