I am sure Ian can help and maybe Tom as well . Jaguar E Type Tyres - Jaguar XKE Tyre Recommendations (longstonetyres.co.uk)
The Michy's on the 365 are very good, they were much faster than the Chinese tyres on an Aston Martin V8 coming down Charlotte's Pass, that's no reference to your partner BTW!
I don't buy tires on price,I buy them to suit my requirements Did I tell you I was taking the "CAB" on the Tassie trip? Its Kool..... Image Unavailable, Please Login
I buy tyres on performance and value.....not ripoff content....there is a happy medium as you've found out with the Avons.
So if you buy tyres that are original spec for the car such as XWX or TRX, which by the way the car manufacturer has spent countless hours and $$ determining what works best, then you’re getting ripped off? Justify all you like but you and the other Chinese aficionados are buying based on price. NTTIAWWT but stop pretending otherwise
I'm not going to go over what I've said about my reason for putting the Chinese on the 308 because you know. Nor am I going to repeat why the 365 doesn't have XWX's on it because you know. So why keep on bringing it up? As for Pat,he's given his reasons for putting Chinese on the Aston so why don't you give him a break as well. As for Rob,he's given the reason the Bent has Chinese on it,so why don't you give it up there as well? Go and buy some Chinese Pirelli's for your new cool car.
Um, just responding to your BS comment “I buy tyres on performance and value.....not ripoff content.” And it was a BS statement. I put new TRXs on my COOOL car and they were $800/tyre. Did I get ripped off. No, the price is the price. That’s all I’m saying.
I was going to fit Pirelli P-Zero tyres all round on my 348 when it was “due” for a tyre change back in 2016. $600 each tyre back then for the period correct tyres. Ended up spending $600 for 4x cheap Chinese tyres instead. I also put the correct profile back on the car. If I drove the car every day then I would have spent that money and fit the Pirelli tyres. I drive the car once every few months, so I went with cheap Chinese tyres. Which has worked out well anyway, that car hasn’t been driven since September 2019 and only driven again the last month or two by MJ. Tyres would be rock hard again by now 7 years later and less than 1000kms lol Until I know I’ll drive the car more, I’ll keep fitting Chinese tyres as it’s a waste of money fitting anything better than that at this point in time. I posted all this crap here years ago on the forum anyway, but yeah, Chinese tyres for the win men. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I should have added,in the case of the 308 and current 365,availability. The 365 wears these https://www.michelin.com.au/auto/tyres/michelin-energy-xm2-plus Which are great.
FFS gimmee a break! Went to start Shagger and cough splutter fail. Fuel coursing down the slab so up goes the bonnet. Fuel pi55ing out of the front SU. Off I rip the top and here's the bloody brass float sitting underwater/fuel. Pull it out and it's obviously leaking in. Just ordered a new one FFS! When it comes to “period correct” tyres on OHOSs, have the manufacturers upgraded the compounds etc., or are they literally exactly the same as they were 40, 50 years ago? If that’s the case I can’t for the life of me understand why anyone would want to put that crap on their car, given how much tyre technology has improved.
