Ferrari have explained numerous times why they prefer aluminium for their normal production models (with carbon reinforcements in the case of the SF90).

unfortunately a few years ago Ferrari made the call to go with a new/upgraded aluminium chassis production line/plant so I think it will be 2 - 5 years before they will reinvest. All back to money sadly

So a smooth stone is now the design goal? I wish that the cheapest Ferrari model could get me so excited!

At least they should make a refined version ferrari omologata's(best looking version of 812S even though it is a one-off) design imho. Hell, the F167 mule looks better than that rendering for crying out loud

From the front, maybe. Rear, horrible, just like SF90.

I love the Roma, one of the most beautiful cars they've made in recent decades imo but f167 needs to be different. The proportions of the early mule in the stretched Roma body look very wrong to me.

Yes, but not on the final vehicle. In this picture of the heavily camouflaged prototype, I tried to work out the essential lines. Result: A very well proportioned Berlinetta! There could be a swage line on the side (as on the old 365 GTB/4 (camouflaged by foam padding), which may also accommodate the door handle.
We have already seen this detail in my picture posts (#3974 and #3999), isot’s recent picture post (#4165) and ingegnere mentioned it too (#4167). I think the side line will be clean and simple.
Yes, there something with the roof… day355 said that. Perhaps it goes in the direction of a targa like ingegnere mentioned (wide B-Pillar with glass behind) or in the direction of a Superamerica (#4153). See my early post too where i speculated with a wide C-pillar (#2497).
The wide hips are definitely coming and belong to the "chocolate side" of the vehicle (see day355 posts in this thread). At the front we speculate on a KC23/365 GTB/4 inspired look.
But without knowing the final design details of the vehicle, I have to say: For me the basic proportions are right!

Sorry, I should rephrase. The proportions are fine but the stretched roma body looked wrong.

I thought we were expecting a very short, squat rear? That looks similar to 812, particularly comp.

Can anyone put this side by side with a comp for comparison?

I’m not digging the ‘classic look’ approach. I hate to say but that’s where I’m at. The 550 was not derivative, it was interesting. So too the 599, F12 and 812. The Testarossas were wild and the Boxers had a not-so-conventional unique look. Ferrari has a 50 year history of cars we have loved that did not conform to the simple classic lines theory. I’ll miss the ambition and drama if it’s like the (excellently interpreted) renders we have seen so far.

    Fully agree.
I‘d rather prefer an 812 Competizione like style than the softened appearance of a Roma, to which the renders of the 812 seem related to.
Even the latest AM tend to present more drama.

Also can’t help thinking it’s hopefully not what will eventually be presented in a few months time…

Keep having fun with it! Some of us enjoy the speculative renders. After all, the entire thread is speculation…. :)

I’m pretty sure everyone appreciates the skill (and fun) of the renders! Just wondering if the car looks similar - and it probably does given we can see the basic shape of the mule cars - whether it will make for a good Ferrari or not? The render definitely reminds me of the Daytona, the last Ferrari front V12 with classic-line styling. I guess that can’t be altogether bad?! But maybe the Icona series should be left to bring shapes and lines from the past back Into life. For a modern Ferrari V12 production car, I think I want to be wowed by a bit of wildness mixed with a long bonnet.

To be in the simplicity of Roma does not mean to be a Roma !!!
And the rendering above is close to a Roma.
of course we are closer to a Roma style language than 812, and as I said, it is the opposite of 812
Roma is style, 167 is concept. And although modern and simple at the same time, she does not forget the virility and the muscles.

I really hope they don't just evolve the Roma design. The Roma for me is a very dull and basic design. I also found it looks just the same in pictures as in real life, and doesn't have that in the flesh impact and dynamic look that most Ferrari designs have.
